Alexander Bashirov: “I’m not an actor, God forbid I should learn the text...”

Childhood and youth

Alexander was born in the Khanty-Mansiysk village. Bashirov's family was incomplete. No one in the family even thought about art, especially since she was from the disadvantaged category. As soon as the son was born, the parents divorced. The mother raised the boy without a father. The grandfather, who lived with little Alexander and his mother, was disabled and was fond of fishing.

My grandfather did not want to work due to his political convictions, because he could not come to terms with Soviet power. My mother worked at the post office and supported the whole family. Alexander became addicted to smoking early, from the third grade. The boy’s strong hobby was drawing, which turned his biography in the right direction.

As a young man, Alexander came to Leningrad and began studying at a vocational school to become a tiler.
Having received his profession, Bashirov went to Vyborg to work at a cement plant. I had to interrupt my work due to conscription into the army. To serve in the tank forces, Alexander had to learn a lot. His ability to draw helped the amateur army artist. He often served while in the army club. The actor’s genes did not allow Bashirov to live in peace. No one knows where Alexander got them from.

The boy loved to draw and devoted a lot of time to this hobby, but his artistic abilities did not result in anything more.

Vocational school

In 1972, the young man left the Tyumen region. The personal life of Alexander Bashirov made the first serious turn towards future success.

He ended up in Leningrad, where he became a student at a vocational school, where he mastered the profession of a tiler. After graduating from school, he began working at the Vyborg cement plant.

Army

In 1981, the future actor ended up in the army. The military biography of Alexander Bashirov is connected with Transbaikalia, where he ended up in a tank division.

Since the guy was a good drawer, he was appointed an artist at the army club. He later said that he once received an order to create a portrait of Brezhnev, with a tank helmet on his head. Bashirov completed the task, but after placing the portrait on the club, Leonid Ilyich gave a long life.

VGIK

Journalists sometimes ask the actor about the origins of his acting. Bashirov replies that he wants to subjugate people and sometimes he succeeds. Alexander also calls himself a descendant of the Golden Horde khans.

After leaving the army, Bashirov became a student of the directing department at VGIK. His teacher was Igor Talankin, with whom Alexander studied for two years, after which Anatoly Vasiliev took him in.

The personal life of Alexander Bashirov at this time was stormy. In addition, he already knew how to shock the public. In many ways, his departure from Talankin is connected precisely with this.

When students presented their sketches to the VGIK commission, Bashirov “became famous” in the image of the Devil, who appeared to Faust not quite in his usual form. Alexander went on stage dressed in a robe over his naked body. As soon as Bashirov found himself under the watchful gaze of the commission consisting of Inna Makarova, Irina Skobtseva and Sergei Bondarchuk himself, he threw off his robe and, in what his mother gave birth, revealed himself to the masters of Soviet cinema. After a huge scandal about this, the brawler found himself on the course of Anatoly Vasilyev, who was more loyal to such antics.

America

After graduating from VGIK, Alexander Bashirov’s personal life again took a sharp turn. He ended up in New York with his first wife, a US citizen.

There, the certified Soviet director entered the Berghof Studio, headed by Lawrence Arancio. At one time, she gave impetus to the careers of Robert De Niro, Liza Minnelli, Al Pacino and other stars of world cinema.

But the time came, and Alexander Bashirov’s wife demanded a divorce from him, which ended his career in America without even beginning.

Movies

The biography of actor Bashirov began with episodes. The film was awarded an Oscar. In the film “Assa,” which was included in the treasury of the best Soviet films, Alexander played the false major Babakin. Since the thriller “Needle” in Bashirov’s acting biography, the role of a negative character has firmly stuck to him. The directors saw only such a hero in the actor. In the following films, the roles were only in episodes, but so vivid that the actor immediately became recognizable.

Because of his shocking personality, Alexander often gets gangster images. Basically he plays a bandit (as in the film “Guest Players”, a sharper in the film “Penal Battalion”, a safecracker in “Balzac’s Age”). But the brightest character, who was the most memorable, was the cat Behemoth from Mikhail Bulgakov’s work “The Master and Margarita”.

Soon it occurred to Bashirov to create his own film studio, in which he himself was the artistic director and taught acting and directing skills. In the 90s, his “Deboshirfilm” was in the spotlight; an independent film festival was held in St. Petersburg, which is still considered the most massive youth event.

Bashirov was lucky: he proved himself as a screenwriter, producer, director and actor.
His film was able to win several awards. Alexander continues to work and surprise his audience. Many musicians work closely with the actor. With his active participation, video clips are shot. Bashirov hosts rock music concerts. Alexander Bashirov, despite his special acting talent for playing only negative characters, is very fond of being invited to his films by a variety of directors: Alexey German, Karen Shakhnazarov, Sergei Solovyov.

Personal life

Bashirov married an American citizen during his student days; she also studied at the theater institute. He and his wife moved to America, where their son Christopher was born. Bashirov's heir trained as an ecologist. Having divorced his wife, he returned to Russia, but continues to communicate with his son. Now Alexander married Inna Volkova. She is the lead singer of the Hummingbird group and is nine years younger than her husband.

The couple have a daughter, Maria. The daughter became a director, like her father. Sometimes Inna stars in her husband’s projects and sings songs in his films. Sometimes there is an explanation for Bashirov’s eccentric character: the actor drinks alcohol.

Alexander Bashirov now

Basically, Bashirov plays killers, criminal elements. But still he was lucky, he played with Ilya Khotinenko in the historical drama of Emperor Paul the First. Alexander coped with the task that the director set for him.

The film was called “The Golden Age,” which became prophetic for the rise of Bashirov’s acting biography. The actor became very much in demand. Many roles have appeared. Nobody would call them the main ones, but the actor’s filmography has expanded significantly.

Beginning of acting

In 1987, Bashirov starred in the famous Soviet film “Assa”, in the image of a fake Air Force major – Babakin. From that moment on, not only television viewers, but also directors from the capital started talking about his person.

The following year, Alexander Bashirov again received a lucrative offer to collaborate in the film “Igla” . The actor masterfully portrayed a nondescript, antipathetic man named Spartak.

In 1990, Bashirov flew to America, where he studied in the studio of Laurenzo Arancio for about a year. He wanted to compare teaching methods at home and abroad and improve his acting skills. Returning home, Bashirov began actively acting in films. The most famous films of that period are: “House under the Starry Sky”, “Fictitious Marriage”, “American Grandfather”.

In 1996, Alexander Bashirov opened the author's studio "Brawler-Film-Studio", which specialized in filming youth and underground films.

The choice was made more than correctly, as evidenced by the long-term, successful existence of this project. On its basis, a film festival of the same name was organized in the independent film category.

In 1998, he directed and starred in the film “The Iron Heel of the Oligarchy ,” which caused a real sensation and received many positive reviews. Then there was a series of such popular films as:

  • "Streets of Broken Lanterns";
  • “Border taiga novel”;
  • "Cobra";
  • "Glacial period";
  • "Penal battalion";
  • "Blind Man's Bluff";
  • “Mom don’t worry-2.”

In 2005, Bashirov was invited to star in the film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s legendary novel “The Master and Margarita.” The eccentric actor got the image of the cat Hippopotamus.

In the same year, he played key characters in the films: “Hunting on the Asphalt”, “Ratatouille”, “Ballads of the Hussars”. 2007 turned out to be a busy year for Alexander ; he replenished his creative treasury with 12 paintings.

Recently, Bashirov has been playing mainly episodic roles, but they are all diverse and bright . Among the latest works, it is worth noting such films as: “Oil Painting”, “Country 03”, “Amanitas”, “Man from the Future”, “Karp o, “Kharms”.
