Egor Pazenko is an actor who gained fame thanks to his on-screen image as a charming scoundrel. The role stuck with the artist for a long time, making him a hostage to the militants. But over time, his characters acquire duality of character, becoming fighters for justice. A striking example was the role of the abbot in the film of the same name. In life, Yegor Pazenko is an exemplary family man and a real man. As the actor says: “And everything in my life is determined not by what I planned, but by how I act in relationships with others and loved ones...”.
Actor biography
On February 25, 1972, a son, Yegor, was born into the family of actors of the regional Gorky Theater, Stanislav Fedorovich Pazenko and Margarita Georgievna Bondareva. At that time the family lived in Simferopol. When the boy turned 7 years old, he moved to Kyiv, where Pazenko spent his childhood. Curious and active, he often did not do his homework and skipped school, but he could play out any situation like an actor, for which he was a favorite of his teachers. Acting abilities and theatrical behind the scenes work of my parents made the choice of profession obvious.
Immediately after school, the ambitious young man entered the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio on A. Leontiev’s course the first time. The performance in the graduation performance impressed Oleg Nikolaevich Efremov, who invited the young actor to join the Moscow Art Theater troupe. Nevertheless, in the biography of Yegor Pazenko there was an incident that could have caused the end of his acting career.
He was 21 years old when, while running across the Garden Ring, Yegor was hit by a car. Amputation of the leg was in doubt, but the doctors did everything possible. As a result - a month and a half in hospital wards, two years on crutches. And again, help came from Efremov, who offered small roles and paid salaries. After the death of Oleg Nikolayevich, Pazenko’s theatrical life underwent a great crisis, which became the beginning of depression. The feeling of uselessness was filled with alcohol. At that time, Yegor took on any job: he acted in commercials, voiced films, even did business, although not very successfully. Working in cinema helped me get out and believe in myself again.

Then the guy was assigned to A. Leontyev’s course. After receiving higher education, the aspiring actor was invited to join the Moscow Art Theater troupe.
An incident occurred in Pazenko’s life that could have affected his acting career. When he was 21 years old, the actor was hit by a car. Then the doctors raised the question of amputating the leg, but, fortunately, they managed to do everything possible to save the leg. After treatment, the artist walked with the help of crutches for about two years.
The artist’s acting life is very eventful, but even despite this, Pazenko was able to arrange his personal life.
Among the most famous works of Yegor Pazenko are such roles as Bull in the production “Arena”, Rozhnov in the play “Boris Godunov” and Brother Strength in the production “Cabal of the Holy One”.
There were changes in the actor's biography in 1988, when he first starred in a film project. Then he received a minor role in the comedy film “Heads and Tails,” directed by Georgy Danelia. In the late 1990s, the artist appeared in the dramatic film “Two Moons, Three Suns.”
In the film "Citizen Chief"
Pazenko received many roles in the early 2000s. The actor appeared mainly in serial films and dramas. He received his first leading role only in 2004.

The man appeared in the TV series “Unequal Marriage,” which was based on real events. In 2008, he played in the film “Stone Head” together with Nikolai Valuev.
Films by Egor Pazenko
His film debut took place in 1995 with the comedy “Heads and Tails” by Georgy Danelia. The actor played a security guard. And in 1996, Pazenko already auditioned for a role in the Hollywood film “The Saint” starring Elisabeth Shue and Val Kilmer. While working on this film, Yegor encountered a situation that taught him a lot. He wanted to do the stunt himself, but the stuntman in the film asked him not to take away his job. Plus, if something went wrong and an actor got injured, it would jeopardize the entire movie with a huge budget. Since then, Pazenko has been of the opinion that everyone must do their job.
The next film, shot in 1998 by Roman Balayan, “Two Moons, Three Suns,” where Yegor played a policeman, assigned the actor the role of a negative hero. This was followed by work in more than 20 TV series. Basically these were the roles of dishonest law enforcement officers, security guards, and bandits. The actor became popular thanks to the TV series Ice Age, Heartbreakers, Fall of an Empire and others. Of course, all actors dream of acting only in feature films, but Yegor has never shied away from working in TV series.
The collection of foreign works was replenished with the British series “Treasure Hunters” with Keira Knightley, and the American adventure film “Cast Away” with Tom Hanks. But the greatest fame and prize at the 10th International Orthodox Film Festival “Pokrov” was brought by the main role in the series “The Abbot”. In total, Yegor Pazenko’s filmography includes more than 50 films. The actor is currently working on the film “Ilya Muromets”.
In Russia, the fees are not the same
Egor, what kind of filming are you doing in China?
With his wife Alena and children Nikita and Nastya
— Joint Russian-Chinese 24-episode film “The Last Samurai.”
The action takes place in our time, my character is an adventurer. (We wrote in detail about this project in No. 16, 2009.) Advertising:
In the series “Race for Happiness,” your hero is also a negative character. Do you like playing "bad guys"?
Egor Pazenko photography
— In “Race...” my hero is multifaceted. Despite his toughness, he is able to rejoice, love, and help people. He is overcome by passions: he is in love with the wife of the main positive character, played by Anatoly Kot. Herman is respected in the city, and the character changes as the story progresses. By the way, in the original script his scenes were simply caricatured - the authors tried too hard to emphasize Romanov’s “villainy.” I tried to rethink the image, fortunately, the writers were cooperative and rewrote some points.
Can you give a specific example?
— I didn’t like the scene in which Herman kills the dog. I love dogs very much, I have several of them myself! Ultimately, the animal died at the hands of the guard, whom I later scolded for this. In general, working on the series was interesting. Filming took place in the wonderful city of Yaroslavl, on the banks of the Volga. Over the course of a year of working on the film, the members of the film group became practically family. And they paid decent money, which is important. I have a family, children.
Tell us about your family.
- I have a beloved woman, Alena. We've been together for five years, but we haven't had a wedding yet. We met by chance at some event. Both were divorced with children. My son from my first marriage, Stepan, is now 13 years old, Alena has a son, Nikita (he is 9 years old), and a 7-year-old daughter, Nastya. I love them as if they were my own. Previously, my wife was a vice president of a bank and lived abroad for a long time. Now she is my director.

“Butting heads” with producers over your fees?
- Certainly. Finance is an important component. I had the opportunity to act for a small fee - with Roman Balayan in Birds of Paradise. Money was not the main thing there. But I’m not sure that I would agree to work for free even on a gorgeous film. In Russia, after all, the fees are not the same as those paid, for example, in America. Jolie and Pitt have a house alone worth 70 million, they can afford not to think about their daily bread. And none of the Russian actors has yet managed to reach this level. It's strange, we have such a rich country! Now I, together with Alena and Olga Kabo, are looking for money to shoot a children's film, there is an original script. But everything is moving slowly. There are a lot of rich people in Russia, but they would rather waste a few million in Courchevel than spend it on a good, kind film.
Do you communicate with your eldest son?
“His mother doesn’t let us meet too often.” I would like to communicate more, he is now in adolescence. I hope the time will come when we will be closer to him. I don’t communicate with my ex-wife, I think it’s strange. By the way, I don’t like the Odnoklassniki website - I don’t want to go back to the past. I live in the present and the future.
Do you have your own apartment or rent?
- We bought it. Alena’s dad helped, I earned some extra money... That’s how we worked together. I also recently purchased a car.
Zavorotnyuk was not a star at the institute
Have you worked in foreign films?
— In 1996, he starred in the film “The Saint” directed by Philip Noyce.
Did you arrange the fee?
“At that time, a daily allowance of $100 was crazy money. They contacted me through Nikita Mikhalkov’s agency - I speak English quite well. I lived abroad for six months.
Have you tried staying?
- Noyce offered, he was even ready to help me. But I was afraid that nothing would work out, and I have a family, a child. Of course, I had to stay. But, as they say, if it didn’t happen, it means you didn’t really want it. After all, in Russia I have a job that allows me to live normally. And then it’s all over again, and there’s no guarantee that I’ll get through. Although... my connections and acquaintances remain, so I believe that I will have another chance.
How was it like working on the film “Bashka” with Nikolai Valuev?
- Very good. In my opinion, he is a good-natured person. He played well. He didn’t bury himself, didn’t pretend that he knew everything, he was open.
After theater, you worked briefly at the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov. Why did you leave?
— Oleg Efremov, who was at my graduation performance, invited me to join the staff. I worked at the Chekhov Theater for five years. It was a difficult time. After college, I was hit by a car and suffered a serious fracture. I walked on crutches for more than a year and had to go to my native Kyiv for treatment. They didn’t pay at the theater, I wanted to eat, my blood was boiling. I really wanted leading roles, but there weren’t many of them, so I had to leave. The theater is big, the competition is huge.
You had a very good course at the studio school. Are you continuing to communicate?
— Wonderful course: Nastya Zavorotnyuk, Dima Shcherbina, Max Drozd, Dasha Feklenko. I was friends with Drozd, we loved to go out and hang out. Nastya Zavorotnyuk is a hard worker. She is now at the rank of a star, but she deserves the title. This was not visible at the institute, but Nastya was always capable, sincere, and sociable. We still communicate with her, I congratulated her on her wedding to Chernyshev. But she's very busy. I think she’s great for deciding to star in Nanny. This series is loved and watched. Nastya understood what she needed. Look how many offers she has after the “nanny”, she has done a lot to be popular. I am not a supporter of PR for personal life, but I will never judge anyone.
— Didn’t you have an affair with the beautiful Nastya at the institute?
— At that time I had an affair with Dasha Feklenko.
Did you have any affairs on the set?
- No. I believe that if someone is waiting for you at home, cheating is a matter of internal decency. If you are free, then God willing. But I myself don’t even think about something like this. I had a lot of sex scenes, but I treat it like a professional - a game, nothing more.
Are you invited to a TV show?
— They called it “Ice Age.” But I had filming, the schedule didn’t coincide. I wouldn’t go into boxing myself: I don’t want to remember my turbulent youth. Max Drozd and I often fought, defending the honor of the girls.
Tell us, what's new on your screens?
— Film by Vladimir Mirzoev “The Man Who Knew Everything.” My partners: Egor Beroev and Ekaterina Guseva. Painting by Alexander Atanesyan “Kill the King”. Film by Samvel Gasparov “Trap for a Killer”, “The Road” by Vladimir Ostrovsky. In “The Road” the viewer will see me from a different side. This film is somewhat reminiscent of our old movies, like “They Fought for the Motherland.” In addition, the comedy series “Heartbreakers” was released, but only 20 episodes were shown, and I hope there will be a continuation.

Personal life
Yegor Pazenko's first marriage took place shortly after graduating from the Moscow Art Theater with Yulia Prokhorova. In 1995, their son Stepan was born. After 10 years of difficult family life, the couple divorced. The actor’s second wife was Alena Sidorenko, for whom this is also her second marriage. Pazenko adopted Alena’s children from her first marriage, Anastasia and Nikita, and is raising them as his own. In 2013, their common daughter, Alexandra, was born. With the appearance of Alena in Yegor’s life, his career took off sharply, as his wife is actively involved in the actor’s affairs, being his director. Yegor Pazenko carefully protects his personal life from strangers, and about his chosen one he says that Alena is his destiny for life.
With faith in life
Egor Pazenko is a deeply religious person. The serious illness of Nikita's son forced him to come to God. Traditional treatment did not help the boy, and the couple began going to church, lighting candles, and attending services. People began to appear who tried to help. Then there were trips to monasteries, meetings with elders. According to Pazenko, the church is a wonderful world inhabited by wonderful, spiritual people. Yegor consulted with church ministers about work. He was always offended by the role of a negative hero. And then one day, after consulting with Father Ephraim in the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos, I received the answer: “Listen to your heart.” The heart did not want any more negativity and, as if by magic, the roles began to take on a different color.
The actor's dream is to become popular all over the world. This is Pazenko's most sincere wish. Egor has a strong and strong-willed character and if he decides something for himself, he definitely achieves it. For example, he suddenly got rid of bad habits and lost 25 kg. And his roles are filled with charisma and great meaning.
