Biography
Fedor Dobronravov was born and raised in the south of Russia in the most ordinary Soviet family. His father worked as a builder, and his mother worked at a bakery. The boy grew up as a simple yard boy. The actor later recalled: “We played “Timurovites,” helped the elderly and flew kites. My parents are workers, and I thought that my life would turn out the same way.”
However, from an early age Fedor became acquainted with the stage. Possessing a good voice, he enjoyed performing at various competitions and concerts. Almost all creative evenings in Taganrog took place with his participation.
The young man had a cherished dream - to become a clown. For her sake, he entered a circus studio and began to actively engage in sports: boxing, diving, volleyball, basketball. In 1978, having received secondary education, the young man went to Moscow with the goal of enrolling in a circus school. Only a strict rule - young men are not accepted before the army - delayed the realization of the dream for two years.
I had to serve not just anywhere, but in the landing force. But Fedor did not regret it at all; he later shared: “Serving in the Airborne Forces helped me obey and carry out orders, it strengthened me, showed me what male friendship is, what willpower is and much more. And, of course, this has been useful to me in life. I learned to listen to orders – which is very important for a man.”
Returning to civilian life, Dobronravov went to work at a factory as an assembly mechanic. In two years, he mastered many specialties, became independent and able to take care not only of himself, but also of his family. In one of the interviews, the actor says with a smile: “I was always sure: if something happens that I don’t have the opportunity to play in the theater, I will go to the factory. I have a whole bunch of working professions! I was a mechanic, a welder, a paint machine operator, and everything else!”
And yet, for a born actor, the factory walls were a bit cramped. In his free time from work, he was involved in amateur performances, and with friends he staged a rock opera based on François Villon’s “Thirst over the Stream.”
During the same period, the future actor twice tried to enter the Moscow Circus School, but to no avail. But at the Voronezh Institute of Arts, where Fyodor went on the advice of a friend, he was accepted immediately. Here in 1988 he received a diploma in acting education and, together with his classmates, created the Ruble Youth Theater.
Theater
In 1990, a happy accident brought a talented provincial artist to the famous Satyricon. He said about how this happened: “Almost by accident! “Satyricon” came to Voronezh on tour, my actor friends and I came to their performance. Then they asked Konstantin Arkadyevich Raikin to look at us in action. And then everything was like in a fairy tale. Although it was not easy at first. Over the years of working at Satyricon, I have played so many roles that I would never have dreamed of in another theater. Including “Chauntecleer”, “Macbeth”, “The Threepenny Opera”, “The Magnificent Cuckold” and so on. That period was one of the happiest in my life.”
During this time, the actor gained invaluable experience and performed on stage with such masters of the national theater as Evgeny Evstigneev and Tatyana Vasilyeva. But in 2000, Fyodor Dobronravov still parted with his native theater. He commented on his decision as follows: “It was hard for me to leave. I didn’t eat or sleep for three days before telling Kostya Raikin about it. I just understood that it was time to change something in my life. I wanted more independence, a new high-quality step in my career. I wanted to work in cinema. There probably comes a time in every man’s life when you want to find out what you’re capable of.”
Since 2003, the artist has served at the Moscow Academic Satire Theater. He has many interesting character roles to his credit. However, the play “How to Sew on an Old Lady” by Mikhail Sonnenstral, where the actor worked in tandem with Olga Aroseva, is most dear to him. “I take special pleasure in playing in this performance, which contains not only humor, but also light sadness,” explains Fedor.
In recent years, Dobronravov’s role in the theater has changed somewhat. If previously he was offered mainly comedic roles, then in the play “The Suitcase” by Alexander Shirvindt, the artist appears in a completely different image, more complex and deep, playing with tragedy as a subtext. It’s not for nothing that Yuri Polyakov’s play about the theft of a nuclear briefcase, on which the play was based, is called an apocalyptic comedy.
The actor likes to work in one of the most difficult theatrical genres - satire, and about his native theater he says: “You can love or not love our theater, but it is special. Just like the genre of satire - healthy, good. It must be present in any state. It's like a sobering medicine. Every person should have a friend nearby who will say in time: “Hello! Stop! Didn't you take off? Come down." Or help with practical advice. Or show what a person looks like from the outside. This is important, because the eye becomes blurred, copper pipes, money, power influence the character.”
In parallel with his service in Satire, Fyodor Dobronravov took part in performances of the enterprise, played at the Anton Chekhov Theater, Quartet I, and the Millennium Theater. The actor remembers his collaboration with director Krzysztof Zanussi in the play “Educating Rita” based on Willie Russell (role: Professor Frank): “Working with Krzysztof Zanussi, I touched something super-talented, super-professional! The actors and I lived at Krzysztof’s house in Warsaw for a whole week, he insisted on it. I didn’t believe before that a play could be staged in just a week! I didn’t know it was possible to immerse yourself in the material like this.”
The artist revealed some of the master’s directorial secrets: “Krzysztof gives everyone freedom for creativity, freedom for improvisation. And it seems to you that you are just floating above the ground and that you came up with all this yourself. But no: the director is nearby, he watches your creative process and at the right moment - snaps his fingers - and unnoticed by the actor, he turns your game in the right direction! But at the same time you feel such a lift in spirit!”

Death of Fyodor Dobronravov
On July 10, 2020, information appeared on the Internet that the famous Russian actor Fyodor Dobronravov had died. The source reported the artist’s death in a medical facility. Fans began to write words of condolences to the actor’s family.
Close people of Fyodor Dobronravov were horrified. At that moment the actor was on tour. The artist admits that on July 10, his phone calls were simply cut off.
Fans began to spread information on their pages on social networks about the death of Fedor Dobronravov. It was reported that the actor fell into a coma and died without regaining consciousness. They even provided information about the place and time of the funeral.
Returning from the tour, Fyodor Dobronravov gave an interview to journalists. The actor said that he feels great and does not intend to die in the near future. He also talked about how the filming of the new season of the series “Matchmakers” is going on.
Cinema
Fyodor Dobronravov was discovered as a film actor in the early 90s by Sergei Ursulyak. The artist starred in several films by the director. And he owes his acquaintance with him to Satyricon: “I knew Seryozha back when he worked as an artist at Satyricon - by the time I arrived in Moscow, he was already on the artistic council, playing in the best performances. And then he started making films and called me for roles where I could be useful. It all started with “Russian Ragtime”, then there were “Dachniki” (“Summer People”), “Essay for Victory Day”. It’s a real pleasure to work with him!”
Later, famous directors began to invite the actor to their projects. In “Secrets of Palace Revolutions” by Svetlana Druzhinina he played the role of Fyodor Suvorov, in “Impostors” by Konstantin Khudyakov he played a train conductor, in “Sibirochka” by Vladimir Grammatikov he played Mr. Brown, in the popular series “Kadetstvo” by Sergei Arlanov and Valentin Kozlovsky he created Nikolai Petrovich Perepechko.
"Liquidation"
By the time filming began in Sergei Ursulyak’s series “Liquidation,” the actor was already widely known. Dobronravov did not disappoint the expectations of the audience; he brilliantly played the role of Captain Alexei Yakimenko in this military-historical film.
It was quite difficult to combine work in the theater and filming in Odessa. However, the artist only has fond memories of participating in the project: “On the set of Liquidation, I flew back and forth thirty-two times. But Ursulyak knows how to make the artist feel comfortable: various actors came to us and after five minutes of working on set they said: “How good you are...” He knows how to allow or prohibit what he considers unnecessary, without offending the artist. Ursulyak knows how to make it so that later it seems to me that I came up with it.”
Sergei Ursulyak invited a whole galaxy of bright actors to play the leading roles in the film: Vladimir Mashkov, Mikhail Porechenkov, Sergei Makovetsky, Svetlana Kryuchkova, Vladimir Menshov and others.
"Matchmakers"
The peak of Fyodor Dobronravov’s popularity occurred in those years (from 2008 to 2013) when Yuri Morozov’s series “Matchmakers” was on TV screens. The artist said about the filming: “We have a wonderful company, and we understand each other perfectly, that’s why the series turned out to be kind, humane, family-friendly... In general, I can say that we filled an empty niche, started talking about what is missing in our tense, confused life. When we just gathered to read the script for the film, conceived as a two-part series, our director said: “It would be nice if the story turned out to be similar to “Love and Doves.” What happiness that would be!” Therefore, everyone worked in one breath, and the film reflects our attitude to life. The picture turned out good. And the main thing is that all generations can watch it.”
The actor played one of the main roles in the film - Ivan Stepanovich Budko. The sparkling humor of the character he created literally became quotable. In the image of a simple villager, the artist looked very harmonious. His ensemble consisted of: Tatyana Kravchenko, Anatoly Vasiliev, Lyudmila Artemyeva and others.
Fedor has many bright roles to his credit. In parallel with his work in “Matchmakers,” he played Anatoly Tyutchev in “Daddy’s Daughters,” Mr. Mussyalovich in “The Brothers Karamazov,” and the Unfaithful Husband in the film “What Men Talk About.”
In 2013, director Alexander Zhigalkin invited the actor to play two roles at once in the comedy “Exchange Brothers.” The story is about twin brothers (the actor plays both), who, after twenty-five years of separation, meet in their homeland, in a remote village, at their father’s funeral. As fate would have it, their lives turned out differently. And they themselves, at first glance, are completely different from each other: one is a successful businessman, the second is a drunkard and a prisoner. But it gradually becomes clear that they are related people, and their similarities are not only external. By accidentally switching places, everyone was able to realize that part of themselves that was unclaimed in their ordinary lives.
Fedor recalls about the filming: “The result was a rather funny story. But next time I will think seriously if they suddenly offer to play several people at once. It turned out to be so difficult! It’s good that the director poked me all the time: “Don’t slouch!” or “Why did you stand up straight? You’re playing a villager now!”
"Wonderland"
One of the actor’s most recent works in cinema is the comedy “Wonderland” by Dmitry Dyachenko and Maxim Svechnikov. The film is about a family of firefighters (Semyon and Lyuba) from Kostroma, who get the chance to fulfill their cherished dream - to go to Moscow to their favorite program “Field of Miracles”, where they have to make the choice of their whole lives - “prize or money?”
Dobronravov characterizes his character this way: “My hero is an ordinary person from the outback, reads a lot and is interested in many things. Typically, Semyon resembles the hero of Vasily Shukshin’s stories, which is why he is curious.” The artist says about the filming: “The script was written beautifully, that’s why I agreed to film. I was delighted with working with Elena Yakovleva (the wife of the hero Lyuba). It turned out touching, in my opinion. Our task is to draw upon ourselves the proposed circumstances, and the rest is up to the judgment of the viewer.”
The actor has already presented more than sixty diverse film roles to the viewer. Its popularity and demand are growing every day. And the artist’s talent in each subsequent role sparkles with new facets and never ceases to delight fans.
Fedor Dobronravov now
At the beginning of 2020, the media spread a rumor that the actor had passed away after a serious illness and coma. This information turned out to be false. Later it became known that Fedor Dobronravov suffered a stroke. Thanks to competent doctors and timely assistance, the actor managed to overcome the disease and recover. Now Fedor’s health is not a cause for concern; he returned to the stage of the Satire Theater in a couple of months.
At the end of 2018, the short film “Ogonki” appeared in Fedor’s filmography, as befits a New Year’s film, with an optimistic ending. Dobronravov played a homeless man supported by the boy Stepan. The homeless man responds by helping the child do his homework. Stepan finds a job for his friend - in the image of fulfilling children's wishes. The film was initially called “Carlson,” but the creators encountered a problem before the premiere: the use of the name, which is associated with the hero of the books, was prohibited by the writer’s heirs. As a result, I had to use the name of the song that became the soundtrack.

As planned by the authors of the comedy, the heroes will have to travel back to the 19th century, visit an army friend in Georgia, and marry off their granddaughter. According to director Andrei Yakovlev, the former cast did not hesitate to accept the offer to participate in the filming, although Fedor and his partner Tatyana Kravchenko left the project for political reasons. But then the production team changed, and filming was moved to neutral territory - to Minsk.

In the military drama “321st Siberian” Dobronravov starred in the company of colleagues from Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Germany. The film, produced by filmmakers from Buryatia, the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Irkutsk region, received the status of a national film project and became the first and so far the only one financed by crowdfunding.
A television
"6 frames"
In addition to working in the theater and filming films, Fedor Dobronravov finds time to participate in popular television shows. One of these projects is the beloved entertainment show “6 Frames”.
The actor says about his partners and the show itself: “In terms of time, I know the least of Andrei Kaykov and Ira Medvedeva. Together with Seryozhka Dorogov and Galya Danilova, we worked for fifteen years at Satyricon. Edik Radzyukevich and I have been dubbing the program “Your Own Director” for more than sixteen years. If only you knew what an outlet this is for all of us, what a relaxation. I mean the work on creating “6 frames”. You can't even imagine how much fun we have doing this. Another plus: there is no one above us. No one at all. There are authors, but they don’t slap us on the wrist, no one says: you did it wrong.”
Also, at different times, the artist took part in such popular programs as: “Your own director,” “Big difference,” “Thank God you came!”
"Two stars"
In 2012, Fedor Dobronravov became the winner of the IV season of the singing TV show “Two Stars”. The actor performed popular songs of the past in a duet with Leonid Agutin. Fedor told how he agreed to this “adventure”: “I had a dream to meet Lenya Agutin, and I made it come true. No more and no less. Edik Radzyukevich called me and said: “Now I’m sitting with Lenya, offering him you as a partner in a new project.” And maybe I wouldn’t have decided on “Two Stars” with someone else, but here I didn’t have any compensation. I adored Agutin’s work, I had not yet met him personally, and when I met him and his wife, they also turned out to have a wonderful family, the most talented people.”
The actor considers “The Secret of Glued Pages” to be the most successful song performed on the project, which is based on the music of Michel Legrand, and the text was written by Leonid Agutin.
After a brilliant victory in this song competition, Fyodor Dobronravov was advised to seriously think about a career as a singer, to which he replied: “In this regard, I have a complex: I don’t think that I can perform as a singer. If I come across some songs in plays or movies, I sing them with pleasure. But I’m not ready to give solo concerts.”
Biography of Fedor Dobronravov
Fedor Dobronravov is a popular comedic actor who has already become familiar to millions of viewers in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. A truly “star” role for our today’s hero was the role of Ivan Budko in the famous TV series “Matchmakers”. It was this cinematic work that opened the name of the bright comedian to millions of television viewers in different parts of the CIS. But is it possible to say that besides the legendary “Matchmakers” there is nothing more interesting in the list of works of Fyodor Dobronravov? Of course not. After all, during his career, this actor managed to try on a huge number of unforgettable images.
Personal life
The actor has known his wife Irina since childhood: “During my school years, we studied together in the studio at the Palace of Culture: Irina danced, and I went to the circus studio... Of course, I immediately liked her, but we were still children. When I served in the army, we corresponded. And after the service I came back as a fairly grown man. I wanted to start a family. I started courting her, and pretty quickly we got married.”
Irina is a teacher by profession, worked in a kindergarten for a long time, and later became a housewife. The couple have been married for many years. The artist admits: “I am of the old formation - from the clan of monogamous people. I promised my wife thirty years ago when we got married that there would be no cheating, and I keep my word. A person is determined by his actions."
The acting profession requires self-denial not only from the actor himself, but also from his loved ones. Fyodor sees the merit of his wife in the fact that their union has not yet broken up: “At some point, it was the wife who saved the family, which could have fallen apart due to the fact that it was impossible to continue living like this. And then time passed, the children grew up, I had a reassessment of values, and I realized that family is the most important thing. Apparently, this understanding comes with age. My wife endured all the trials, and now I will live the rest of my life, thanking my wife for her feat.”
The couple has two sons: Victor and Ivan. The actor says about them: “My children grew up in completely different conditions! Their childhood literally passed behind the scenes. When I had to go on stage, I passed them from hand to hand to my actor friends, they rocked them, and I played. My children had no other life experience than the experience of life on stage. From the age of eight they already began to play in plays. And when the question arose about choosing a profession, first for one, then for the other, my mother and I, of course, tried very hard to dissuade them. But they said: “We don’t know how to do anything else!”
Both young men received acting training, play in the theater, and successfully act in films. They see their dad more often at work: they take part in the same projects. Fedor admits: “I play and enjoy it. And Vanya and I play father and son in Leonid Trushkin’s play “Fence.” This is a complex story of relationships and love. Two male characters make it difficult to admit that people love each other endlessly. Bright, incredible love that destroys both time and characters. We play with joy. So I see the kids on the playground.”
Several years ago, Fyodor Dobronravov became a grandfather - his eldest son gave him a granddaughter, Varvara. Now he is trying on a new role, and he really likes it.
The secret of family happiness from Fedor Dobronravov:
“Only love can save a marriage. In general, people are driven by love in life. Why does a person stay in the same profession for so long? Loves. Why doesn't he leave the family? Loves. Family and no one else. Of course, in every union there are moments of despair. When we were young, we got used to each other, and there were quarrels. Falling in love has replaced reality - and this is the most difficult thing. At one point, the fact that we were getting married stopped us from conflicting. At another point - the fact that there are children. But all this time, no matter how much we argued, I loved my wife. This, apparently, is the whole secret.”
Personal life of Fedor Dobronravov
For many years now, Fyodor Dobronravov has been happily married to a woman named Irina Dobronravova (she works as a children's teacher). The couple have two sons - Victor and Ivan, who are also successfully realizing their acting potential today.

On December 17, 2010, Viktor Dobronravov’s daughter, Varvara, was born. Thus, at the moment, our today's hero is already a grandfather.
Interview
Main life principle
“I try to keep my word. I like it. Without any receipts or contracts: I said - I did. And nothing in the world except death can interfere. I like this officer’s nobility in the man’s behavior. I myself have nothing to do with blue blood, my family is all peasants, but I like nobility. I read books and live like this: betraying your wife is not good, betraying a friend is not good, children is not good, work is not good. And when a person is reliable, he feels a response. If my friends understand that I feel bad, hundreds of people will come to my aid. I am the same way - ready to sacrifice myself. It seems to me that this is right.”
About the actors
“Actors generally differ little from children. The very word “play” is not characteristic of a respectable adult. But for actors it’s different. It seems to me that people who were stuck in childhood are artists. Moreover, by profession they can be mechanics or installers, but here (knocks on his chest) they are children! That’s why I was stuck at my granddaughter’s age.”
About acting success
“Luck is always given to everyone with fairly accurately predicted frequency, and we must be prepared for this luck. Fortune spins like any planet in the Universe. And when it’s facing you, and you’re not ready for it, it turns around, and you have to wait for the next turn.”
About the theater
In one of his interviews, when asked what comes first for an actor: cinema or theater, Fyodor Dobronravov answered: “Theater, of course. Everything that is developed in the theater cannot be produced either on television or in cinema lately. Because of our speeds. The speeds are very high now. In our cinema, no one has been rehearsing anything for a long time. In cinema, as in television, you give back what you have gained over many years in the theater.”
About your role
“I love humor. And I love you in life. I try not to run too far away from him. I feel organically in the role of a comedian. Another thing is that in recent years I seem to have overfed both myself and the audience with comedic roles, I would like something else. I would like to play something serious, classical.”
About popularity
“I never felt like I woke up famous. “My path is long, everything happened gradually, popularity overtook me slowly.”
About star fever
“Regarding star fever, looking back, I can say: I have not seen a single truly great artist who suffered from star fever. No one. In my opinion, star fever is still inherent in people who lack something within themselves. Those who enjoy success undeservedly. If a person is truly talented and sincerely loves his profession, if he is full-fledged and full of creativity, he has no time for ambition, no time for sticking himself out. I had the opportunity to play with Evstigneev, with Alisa Brunovna Freundlich, with Basilashvili - they don’t even have a shadow of stardom.”
About the national idea
The viewer considers Fyodor Dobronravov almost the most popular of folk artists, and involuntarily turns to his work in search of a national Russian idea. According to the actor: “You don’t need to look for anything. Our nation already has a deep history, philosophy, and spirituality. The Russian soul is difficult to understand because its bottom is deep. This is not a puddle. Dostoevsky wrote that a healthy nation is when a beggar can live on alms. A simple formula, but very deep. This is about us".
About the profession
“I love my profession so much that it is not work for me. I don’t suffer, I don’t strain myself while playing this or that role. It’s just a great pleasure for me.”
