Vladimir Koshevoy - biography, personal life, films, news 2020

Biography

Vladimir Koshevoy is a Russian theater and film actor who became famous thanks to the TV series “Crime and Punishment”, “Grigory R.”, “Heart of Stone” and many others. He came into the profession on his third attempt, shone in leading roles and appeared in episodes. Now I’m among the lucky ones – I can’t complain about creative downtime.

Famous directors Svetlana Druzhinina, Murad Ibragimbekov, Victor Merezhko are interested in the artist. To see Vladimir on stage, theaters in St. Petersburg and Moscow line up. But it’s a paradox: knowing the characters’ faces, the audience does not remember the performer’s last name.

Aristocratic appearance and height of 176 centimeters attract the attention of photographers. All the actor’s interviews for glossy magazines are invariably accompanied by photos. Usually Koshevoy is depicted in suits, which gives the impression of an intellectual. The actor does not cause any problems for the make-up artists, since ordinary lighting is often enough for him, because his face is quite plastic.

Koshevoy often publishes his photos on his personal page on the social network Instagram. Thus, multiple rave reviews appear in the comments to such publications. Fans usually pay tribute not only to his acting skills, but also to his sense of humor. Many note that they would not mind at all if the artist became their life partner.

Childhood and youth

Vladimir Koshevoy is Russian by nationality, born in Riga in 1976 in the family of a naval officer. Moreover, the Koshevo dynasty of military personnel includes many generations: both grandfathers and both great-grandfathers of Vladimir devoted their lives to the army. But since childhood he dreamed of the theater stage.

The childhood stage of Vladimir Koshevoy’s biography does not contain lines about studying in a drama club or theater studio. But from an early age the boy was accustomed to good literature and quality performances. Great-grandmother Nina Yakovlevna took care of literary tastes, who knew how to read in the original not only foreign authors, but also ancient Russian literature in the Old Church Slavonic language. And my grandmother Larisa Grigorievna instilled a love for the theater, having collected a unique video library of films and programs.

When the future artist was still small, his father was transferred to Moscow, where he lived in a hostel on Bolshaya Pirogovskaya Street. Vladimir Koshevoy wanted to be an actor since childhood, but his parents sharply objected to this path. At their insistence, the young man becomes a cadet at the Moscow Military University. However, Koshevoy could not continue the dynasty - the very idea of an army was alien to him. After the military man, another university appears in the biography of Vladimir Koshevoy, Moscow State University, where the guy graduates from the Faculty of Journalism.

However, he was not destined to become a journalist either. While still in his 3rd year, Vladimir entered GITIS, into the acting workshop of Mikhail Skandarov. As a result, he has 3 higher educations, but only the last one brought satisfaction to the young man. Koshevoy discovers the world of the stage thanks to the “Theatrical Partnership 814”, then there were the theater named after N.V. Gogol, the theater, and the Bolshoi Drama Theater named after G. A. Tovstonogov.

Vladimir Koshevoy as the Master

In addition to working on the stage and in cinema, the artist records music tracks based on poems by Russian poets, voices cartoons and audio books. Koshevoy also took part in an unusual project: he “played” the Master in a huge photo exhibition based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.” French photographer Jean-Daniel Laurier created this work, each frame of which illustrates the legendary work and, as it were, guides the viewer through the entire book. The photo show was a great success both in Moscow and Paris.

Biography and personal life of Vladimir Koshevoy

Vladimir Koshevoy was born and raised in Riga. He was the only child in the family, and his parents were confident that in the future he would continue the military dynasty.

His father, Oleg Koshevoy, was in fact the heir to a military family, which included both Vladimir’s grandfather and great-grandfather, who served in the navy. And in early childhood, little Vladimir also dreamed of the sea. The mother, whose name remains unknown, according to the actor himself, had the profession of an officer’s wife. Subsequently, Vladimir also recalled that the relationship of his parents became for him the standard of the relationship between a man and a woman. Especially in the current conditions, when concepts such as “love” and “loyalty” have begun to lose their meaning.

The biography and personal life of Vladimir Koshevoy is very interesting. While still in school, Vladimir decided for himself that he wanted to become an actor. But, nevertheless, having received secondary education, he entered a military university to pay tribute to the family dynasty. Although there he was finally convinced that a military career was clearly not for him, Vladimir did not regret his decision. According to him, the army became a good “school of life” for him.

After military school, Koshevoy graduated from Moscow State University with a course in journalism, and then from the State Academy of Theater Arts, where he studied on the course of M. Skandarov.

Movies

The filmography of Vladimir Koshevoy began to fill up when he was still studying at GITIS. The young actor simultaneously starred in several film projects, of which special attention should be paid to the drama “Instead of Me” with Oleg Strizhenov and Sergei Bezrukov, the detective story “Maroseyka, 12” and the historical film “Secrets of Palace Coups. Russia, XVIII century." Later, Vladimir Koshevoy’s films included important roles in the war film “One Another’s Life,” the detective story “The Secret Guard” and the historical and biographical drama “The Moon at its Zenith,” in which he portrayed Lev Gumilyov, the husband of Anna Akhmatova.

Actor Vladimir Koshevoy

In the series “Taxi Driver,” the actor’s character is a young man who joined the ranks of skinheads. However, the everyday life of a fascist organization changes his worldview. Unable to withstand the psychological stress, the hero becomes addicted to drugs and in the end kills the gang leader.

All-Russian popularity came to Koshevoy after the image of Rodion Raskolnikov in the TV series “Crime and Punishment.” The actor admits that after such success, many new scripts and invitations to various talent shows for stars poured in, but he refused everyone, because he was waiting for something just as heartfelt and serious. As a result, being left without acting work for some period of time, Vladimir was even forced to work part-time at a construction site. But soon he agreed to the main role in the crime saga “Fighter. The Birth of a Legend" and returned to his profession.

Later, the talented artist appeared in the action-packed psychological melodrama “Mayakovsky. Two Days”, melodrama “Underground Passage”, medical series “Emergency”, thriller “Dangerous Delusion”. A new round of popularity for Koshevoy was given by the historical drama “Grigory R.”, in which he portrayed Prince Felix Yusupov, considered the murderer of Grigory Rasputin. By the way, Vladimir played this character for the second time, because back in 2007 he tried on the life of Yusupov in the film “Conspiracy”.

In the film “Grandfather Ivan and Sanka” Koshevoy worked together with Valery Garkalin. Later he recalled that there was a feeling of celebration on the set, and the actors laughed non-stop. Garkalin started filming with ice cream, believing that this way the day would be successful and there would be more joy.

Project “Sonka. Continuation of the Legend” was remembered by the artists for the fact that Koshevoy almost became a patient in the psychiatric clinic where the film was filmed. Vladimir got so accustomed to the role of the self-absorbed Rokotov that the head doctor was already going to escort him to the room.

In the social drama “Farmer,” the artist played an incorruptible police detective, promoting the case of the former mayor of the city, who became the head of a criminal clan. This role was played by Oleg Basilashvili. He will meet the master of cinema Kosheva in the film “We Didn’t Expect”, released in 2020.

Vladimir Koshevoy in the film “Heart of Stone”

Another film by Vladimir Koshevoy was released at the end of 2016. We are talking about the detective-melodramatic story “Heart of Stone”, in which the actor collaborates with Ekaterina Volkova. Colleagues studied at the same theater university, and the young man was in absentia in love with a spectacular girl. Perhaps Koshevoy’s old feelings helped the artists so successfully transform into heroes.

The film “Hotel Rossiya” took viewers back to the era of the 70s, when the lives of Soviet citizens were invisibly watched by the eye of the KGB. The presence of people in civilian clothes within the walls of a hotel receiving foreigners was mandatory. In the film, where spy passions were intertwined with love ones, Vladimir played the role of chess player Voskresensky.

Instagram and Wikipedia of Vladimir Koshevoy

Instagram and Wikipedia of Vladimir Koshevoy are official pages that are not difficult to find. On his page in the Internet encyclopedia you can find his short biography, information about his education, as well as a list of films in which he took part. As for his page on the popular Instagram network, Vladimir is no less popular there than on movie screens. He has a little more than four and a half thousand subscribers.

Vladimir periodically pleases his fans with pictures and short videos not only from the set, but even from personal archives.

Personal life

The personal life of Vladimir Koshevoy is a closed topic. In a recent interview, the actor said that he read Andrei Konchalovsky’s books with interest, but would never be so frank. Vladimir is a closed person by type, a lone wolf. He rarely lets anyone into his inner world. My small social circle consists mainly of friends whom I have known since childhood.

Koshevoy had several romances, quite long ones, but the artist does not name a single name of his lovers. Perhaps because not a single romantic relationship ended in a wedding, although, as the actor notes, such an event was likely.

Vladimir Koshevoy is not married

Koshevoy, by his own admission, simply ran away from one such novel.

“I don’t like being perceived as a money bag - they demand diamonds and yachts, when they control every step, when they make claims.”

Vladimir does not want to fit into generally accepted patterns, either in life or in his work.

The social status of the future wife is not important, nor is age. The chosen one may turn out to be “300 years younger or 800 older.” The main thing is that she loves children. Before Koshevoy’s eyes is an example of a parental relationship in which the mother is 100% focused on the father, living with his thoughts, leisure, and health. Lately, Vladimir has been inclined to think that he may not start a family until he “plays enough and jumps.”

Vladimir’s aristocratic appearance, despite his not very tall height of 176 cm, is liked by photographers. The artist’s interviews for glossy publications are invariably accompanied by photographs in which Koshevoy, dressed in no matter what suit, gives the impression of an intellectual. The actor does not cause problems for the make-up artists either. Vladimir’s face is so plastic that one lighting is enough for the man to turn into Quasimodo or a handsome man.

Posts on Instagram are proof of this. The movie star receives enthusiastic comments, paying tribute not only to his acting talent, but also to his sense of humor. Vladimir responds to some followers. In addition to this social network, Koshevoy has a Facebook page, fan and official websites.

Family and children of Vladimir Koshevoy

The family and children of Vladimir Koshevoy are something that the actor, despite his seemingly advanced age, has not yet acquired. Despite the fact that he does not try to advertise his personal life, it is known that Vladimir has neither a legal wife nor a woman with whom he could be in a relationship. For the same reason, Koshevoy does not have children, although, according to him, he would really like to become a father. Perhaps not even one child.

But we can say that he is currently in a relationship with cinema.

Vladimir Koshevoy now

In 2020, Vladimir received a supporting role in the TV series “The Godfather” about a team of doctors who worked at the epicenter of hostilities in Yugoslavia. In the historical anthology about the victims of the Holocaust, “Witnesses,” Koshevoy portrayed the conductor Leo Stieglitz, who was tortured in the Auschwitz concentration camp. In Valery Todorovsky's tragicomedy "Odessa" the actor has the main role. The film tells the story of a cholera epidemic that has engulfed a southern city.

Actor Vladimir Koshevoy: If you have no convictions, then they will convince you of anything

Actor Vladimir Koshevoy has plenty of film work (“Grigory R.”, “Farmer”, “Crime and Punishment”, “Odessa”...) - he has four film premieres ahead of him (Kaddish, Bezsonov, THE THREAT: Trepalov and the Wallet ", "Creations, or 4 Ka of Velimir Khlebnikov") and filming in a historical series, where he got the role of Tsar Fyodor. The artist himself says that he keeps his distance from Russian small-town cinema, preferring the theater. He never watches his own films, but he is ready to talk about performances, because he only does serious work there.

— Volodya, I read that the play about Turgenev’s love for the singer Pauline Viardot is based on a script by Sergei Solovyov, written in the 90s, but never realized...

— Sergei Alexandrovich began filming a film based on his script in the mid-1990s. But due to financial problems, the project could not be implemented. All that remains from the film are luxurious photographs of the director, which are still exhibited in the Turgenev Museum. When I began to think about what else to do about love, I remembered Solovyov’s unrealized idea. At my request, he found his script in the storage rooms, the pages were withered and I took particular pleasure in reading and leafing through them. Turgenev's love for the singer lasted about 40 years and makes us worry through the centuries. After all, if this can be, it means that not everything is lost in our pragmatic world.

— How can you not be disappointed in one person after 40 years?

- Turgenev loved and accepted Polina for who she is. Even when she lost her magical voice and ceased to be an artist, he still loved her. That is, he didn’t care who she was. Even if she was a dishwasher, he would still love her. My grandmother liked to say: “Desire has a million possibilities, reluctance has a million reasons.” Ivan Turgenev found a million opportunities to be with Polina. If you want me to leave, I will leave, find a woman like you, and she will give birth to a child for me. And I will still love you.

— In 2011, the World Health Organization added love to its list of diseases. Like, love - obsessive thoughts about another person, mood swings, self-pity, interrupted sleep and insomnia, impulsive actions. Do you agree that love is a disease?

- Of course, people who are in love are definitely sick. You can't argue with scientists.

- It turns out that Ivan Turgenev, in his love for Viardot, was terminally ill?

- Look, you see what we agreed to! Turgenev is a sick man. (Laughs).

— Would you like to experience something like this in your life?

“There have been love stories in my life, and it seems to me that I have already felt everything. I realized that without suffering, without worries and partings, there is no real feeling. But I’m 43 years old and maybe a ray of hope will still shine. And I don’t want to put myself in Turgenev’s place and repeat his life. I want something of my own, special, and not as laid down in the algorithm or script. Even if it is something unfortunate, there will be a path. If only it were.

— How are things going on your personal front now?

“I’m in love, and my heart is busy, I haven’t been looking for anything for several years.”

— Polina Viardot is played by Sati Spivakova in the play. Previously, her husband Vladimir Spivakoy did not want his wife to engage in the acting profession. Has he reconsidered his views?

“We never talked about this topic.” It would never even occur to me to ask: “Sati, what does your husband say?” We have completely different topics to talk about. The maestro came to the musical performance “Grieg-Ibsen. Peer Gynt" at the House of Music and told us very good words.

— Has Sati already introduced you to all the French celebrities?

— One day we were sitting in a cafe, and Laurent Hilaire (artistic director of the ballet of the musical theater named after K. S. Stanislavsky and V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko) came up to us. He was a favorite dancer and student of Rudolf Nureyev. Sati said: “This is the artist Vladimir Koshevoy, who reads your letters to Nureyev in the play “Nureyev.” He exclaimed: “Oh! How interesting!"

— The play “The Birth of Stalin,” where you played young Joseph, aroused great interest among the press. What conclusion did you draw for yourself: where does evil arise from, and where do tyrants come from?

- No matter what anyone says, everything comes from childhood: accumulated grievances, dislike, lack of kindness. Stalin also had childhood trauma. Our play features his endless conflict with both his father and God. The father was not kind to Joseph, he beat him because he was a strange child. All his older brothers died, and only he survived. According to tradition, Joseph should have been sent to study at the seminary, but his father was against it, he wanted his son to continue his work (he sewed magnificent shoes). And the boy had a magnificent voice and people came from all over Georgia to listen to him, he was invited to perform at weddings. My father didn't like it; he was a tyrant at home. But the mother was also good, she also beat her son. Joseph once tried to protect his mother from his drunken father, but in the end he got it from her too. Stalin's mother was a very powerful woman.

— Why, in your opinion, have we recently been trying to whitewash Stalin and erect a monument to Ivan the Terrible?

— There is a certain need in society, it comes from both above and below. As Nikolai Gogol wrote, an empty vessel can be filled with anything. And if you have no convictions, then they will convince you of anything.

— At the premiere of the play “Nureyev” you took your bow wearing a T-shirt with a portrait of Kirill Serebrennikov. How did you perceive his release from house arrest, and then the termination of the case?

“I read about it on Instagram and was happy. After all, Kirill had the opportunity to communicate with people, meet, work. On the other hand, I understand that in our country everything is not so calm, that anyone can be seized and accused. People in uniform are always looking for something, they are still digging for something. No one gives a direct answer, but for some reason they need it. After his release, we met Kirill at Alla Pugacheva’s concert. We hugged tightly, and I told him that I was very glad to see him and was really looking forward to rehearsals at Nureyev. Because the play was released two years ago without him, and the actors would like to rehearse with the director himself. Whatever you say, these are completely different emotions. The play “Nureyev” is on stage at the Bolshoi Theater (the nearest release date is next spring), and I play the main dramatic role in it.

— You have five film premieres in stock, you are going to play Tsar Fyodor in a historical series. Does this mean that you are in great demand in cinema today?

“I’m in great demand at the theater, but I keep my distance from the cinema.” If in a movie an actor is a small cog on whom little depends (they may edit it wrong, the role may be cut), then in the theater there is a test to see if you can hold the audience for two hours. And if this succeeds, then I feel extraordinary strength.

— At the very beginning of your career, you played Rodion Raskolnikov in the series “Crime and Punishment.” There is an opinion that reading Dostoevsky as a teenager is dangerous. You can become disillusioned with the world around you and think about suicide...

- It is very important here who leads you, who tells you. A child's brain is a jug that can be filled with anything. Even in our interview with you, I can give different answers to the same questions only because my mood has changed. If Dostoevsky’s works are presented to children without a minus sign, then everything will be fine. And if they insist on how dirty everything is, how terrible everything is around, then anything can happen. In this sense, I was lucky. I had a wonderful literature teacher. With her we studied “Crime and Punishment”, then read “Uncle’s Dream”, “The Meek One”, “Someone else’s Wife or Husband Under the Bed”.
