Igor Sorin was born on November 10, 1969 - this year the musician could celebrate his 50th birthday. But “Ivanushka” did not even celebrate his 30th birthday: he passed away on September 4, 1998. Three days before his death, on September 1, Igor was working on recording a solo record - he left the group in the spring. As the musicians from the group “Formation DSM”, with whom Sorin spent the evening in the studio apartment, recall, the young man went out onto the balcony in the morning to rest and freshen up. But he never returned - his friends saw Igor below, lying on the asphalt.

With fractures of the cervical vertebrae and partial paralysis, the artist was taken to the hospital and operated on. The surgical intervention was successful, but his heart could not stand it - after several days in intensive care, Igor died.

Depression and suicide

The main version is suicide. After Igor’s fall, a note was found in the apartment with the text “To my family. To mom. To dad. Sashenka. All. But like the crown of poetry, a chick is born. Fly." And his former lover - the same “Sasha” from the note, Alexandra Chernikova - recalls that Igor’s condition was at least alarming.

“Periodically he was euphoric, periodically in a very depressed state. It's hard for me to talk now. At that time, his ideas were one, but the reality was different. He hoped that something important would happen in life right away. And there was a period of silence and calm,” said the girl in the studio of the “Actually” show.

But neither Sorin’s mother - although she also recalls how her son was fading away, temporarily left without work - nor Andrei Grigoriev-Appolonov and his colleagues accept the version of suicide.

FATHER MARRIED A FAN: SHE IS 19, HE IS 60

at the door of the apartment where Igor’s parents, Svetlana Sorina and Vladimir Raiberg . And after the singer’s death in 1998, the girls organized entire pilgrimages: they carried flowers, posters, soft toys... At first, the entrance, filled with portraits and burning candles, looked like an iconostasis. The artist’s family soon got used to it - after all, they had a common grief. The most devoted fans began to visit the Sorins and drink tea. With them, Svetlana Alexandrovna, who after the tragedy could not even speak, slowly thawed. And suddenly - a new shock.

“One of the fans, 19-year-old Anya, was sometimes accompanied by her husband to the metro,” the woman recalled. - A good girl, talented - she appeared on our doorstep with a portrait of Igor, which she painted herself. Volodya liked it, he himself is an artist, a writer, a creative person. So Anya walked like everyone else. And one day I came with a belly. Vova looked at me and said guiltily: “Sveta, you better sit down. Anya and I will have a child.” My legs gave way...

So just a year after the death of his son, Vladimir Raiberg married for the second time: she was 19, he was 60. The girl’s parents, who turned out to be much younger than her newly-made husband, were horrified, but still allowed the young couple to live with them. In their marriage, they had two sons: Mark is already 19, Milan is 13. The eldest is studying to become a doctor, the youngest is a high school student. Both, of course, know who their brother was. But, as friends say, the boys don’t look like Igor at all - different facial features, no desire for creativity. And unlike dad, who sometimes appears on talk shows, the guys don’t shine anywhere and don’t even publish photos on social networks. By the way, Vladimir Semenovich separated from their mother several years ago.

“I try to meet with my sons in cafes, go to museums or exhibitions - my living conditions are modest, there won’t be room for many people,” admitted 81-year-old Raiberg (his first wife bought him a room during the divorce, leaving behind the apartment where Igor grew up ).- I, of course, told them about my brother, and they themselves found information on the Internet. But I have no idea what their relationship to this is. Another generation, preoccupied with something of its own...

“MOM, I’M ALIVE!”

After the tragedy with her son, Svetlana Sorina decided to help difficult teenagers. In the library where she worked all her life, she opened a children's theater. Because of her husband’s betrayal, she buried her hopes for female happiness, but in 2001 she unexpectedly met her man. Today Svetlana Alexandrovna is a happy wife, mother and grandmother (she got her second husband with children and grandchildren).

“We will celebrate Igor’s anniversary with a concert on November 19 at the House of Cinema - his friends and fellow students will come, many of whom have already become honored artists,” Svetlana Sorina told KP. - For example, Nonna Grishaeva, Igor’s friend, “Ivanushki” is a must... Fans will come from all over the country.

— And you organize all this alone?

- Why, there is a headquarters that helps me - Igor’s fans. They are already in their thirties, some are forty years old, they are all married and have given birth to children. The girls are very decent - there are lawyers, architects, and doctors among them. Together, every year we organize a memorial evening; we recently published a book of our son’s poems. We found a cheap publishing house in St. Petersburg and people who helped us. We are not professionals, all this is difficult for us.

— And if we talk about you personally, how do you live?

“I’ll just say that my life is organized, everything is fine with me.” The only thing is that I don’t work, I’m already 75 years old. Two years ago I was forced to retire. New management came to the library and said: the study groups will be paid. I was against it. Children already pay for sports, for tutors, and will they also pay for hobbies? We trained actors professionally, these were amateur classes. So I had to leave. It’s a pity, especially since in the library I had a corner of Igor’s memory - things, photos, tools. People came to remember him, but now they simply have nowhere to come...

—Where do you direct your energy?

— For fitness: twice a week I do water aerobics, two more times I do dancing. I go to the theater when the tickets are not too expensive.

— Do you communicate with your ex-husband and his sons - Igor’s brothers?

- He used to come often, now less and less often... But he is always joyful, sunny, radiant. He was a philosopher, a poet, a romantic, a cool boy. One day he came to me in a dream, well, alive. I was so surprised, I asked: “Are you alive?!” And he: “Yes, I’m alive.” I run out into the street, trying to shout: “Igor is alive, alive!!!” But I don’t hear any sound...

Let us recall that on September 1, 1998, Igor Sorin fell from the sixth floor balcony in the house where he was recording a new album, and on September 4 he died from injuries in the hospital. The police investigation ended with the conclusion “suicide”; they did not initiate a case. They say that after leaving Ivanushki, Sorin suffered from deep depression and lack of demand. However, the singer’s relatives still do not believe that he could decide to commit suicide. Moreover, no bruises or scratches were found on his body - no injuries characteristic of a fall from a height. The parents are sure that their son’s neck was broken in some kind of domestic brawl, and then he was carried out to the entrance to cover his tracks. Sorin’s mother is still waiting for the culprit to come to her one day to repent and ease her soul.

Accident

“This is some kind of incomprehensible story. A tragic incident. Igor loved life very much. No one in our group believed that it was suicide. This is completely excluded,” echoes Igor’s relatives Kirill Andreev. Everyone who loved Igor wants to believe in an absurd coincidence of circumstances with a fatal outcome. But why did the performer fall from a height? Lost your balance? The balcony railings were high. Did someone unintentionally push him? As the investigation showed, Sorin came out alone and there were no guilty parties. Or did the young man not understand what he was doing, being in an altered state of consciousness?

After the death of Igor, who was the author of many songs, such as “Clouds”, “Where I Am and Where You Are”, the group “Ivanushki” took the place of the third soloist Oleg Yakovlev, with whom they went through a long creative path and recorded such “golden” hits, like: “Poplar Down”, “Bullfinches”, “Ticket to the Cinema”, “Run”, “Two Oceans of Eyes” and many others.

The band members admit that at every concert they feel Igor’s presence in the hall and feel a strong connection with him. According to the recollections of the lead singers of “Ivanushki”, there were never any conflicts in the group; the guys spent almost all their time together, because the group was at the peak of its fame. They parted as good friends; Igor Matvienko thought that it was better for Sorin to sing solo. He had big plans for the future and loved life very much, too much to end it so early.

Oleg Yakovlev left the Ivanushki team, starting a solo career, and was replaced by the second Kirill, who is 20 years younger than his colleagues. In the summer of 2020, Oleg Yakovlev passed away.

The Ivanushki group does not forget the former soloist and holds concerts in his honor every year. True, they don’t go to Igor Sorin’s grave.

Parents

The parents of the future star are intelligent people. Mother, Svetlana Sorina, is a housewife; father, Vladimir Raiberg, is a design engineer. His passion for drawing and poetry led dad to become a member of the Russian Writers' Union, where he later occasionally published his poems.

Childhood and youth

According to the memoirs of Sorin’s mother, her son was an extraordinary boy. Igor was extremely inquisitive and fearless. In addition, even in elementary school, he began to write poetry, which made even adults feel uncomfortable. The contents of the lines did not match what the child had written.

During the casting process for filming Tom Sawyer, an unpleasant situation happened to the hero. He was previously approved for the role of the main character, but at the last moment the director of the film S. Govorukhin, on the recommendations of N. Mikhalkov, changes him to another boy. Offended by this, Igor jumps from the 2nd floor window. Fortunately, it all ended without serious consequences for him. As a result, he gets the role of Joe Harper.

After the 8th grade, he decides to get a specialty and enters a radio-mechanical college. In the process of studying, he creates a musical group and successfully gives concerts, taking prizes in various competitions. Having completed his studies, he takes exams at Gnesinka, but leaves it to participate in the sensational musical Metro.

After 2 years, he returns home, is reinstated at the Gnessin State School, receives a diploma and works in the “Scholarly Monkey” theater.

Meeting Kirill Andreev was the beginning of the guy’s climb up the career ladder. The first rehearsals as part of Ivanushki International in 1994 showed that the group should receive universal recognition.

The result was not long in coming: thousands of fans gathered for the concerts. In the period from 1995 to 1998, the guys traveled to almost all the CIS countries. Igor Sorin stood out not only for his extraordinary voice and interesting behavior on stage, but also for his appearance. His height was only 158 cm, which in general gave the team even more interest, which becomes obvious in the presented photo.

During this period, the group released 2 albums: “Of course he” and “Your letters”. If the first did not bring maximum results, then the second became deafening. It includes the following songs:

Performing as part of “Ivanushki” was regarded by Sorin as being “out of place.” He repeatedly encouraged his fans to read classical literature and always dreamed of a different career.

Leaving the group

The decision to break the contract with the group had been brewing for Igor for a long time. The creative personality understood that such a development of events was not for him. Dizzying success, millions of fans, thousands of concerts - with such a rhythm of life, he had no time left for writing poetry and viewing the world from a philosophical point of view.

The group's lead singer and friend Kirill Andreev recalls this time in his comments: “He was tired of such popularity and always dreamed of performing a solo program. Red and I spent a long time trying to persuade him to stay. They heard in response: “I started singing the same thing.” But in any case, we will have to perform the same repertoire, even if we sing our own songs... But he didn’t want to hear us.”

Relations with Valentina Smirnova and Alexandra Chernikova

In the artist’s personal life, there were only 2 girls with whom he had serious relationships. The first of them is Valentina Smirnova, whom I met while studying at the Gnessin School. After leaving for Warsaw, and then America, they stopped dating.

I met Sasha Chernikova in 1994 after returning and reinstating my studies. At that time, she was also studying at Gnesinka in the 1st year of the conducting department.

In the process of meeting, the guys got together and began to live together. At the time of their death, they were renting a one-room apartment in Kuntsevo and, as everyone thought, they were happy.

When the artist died, no alcohol or other prohibited substances were found in his blood, which refutes a number of existing opinions and speculations. Despite the fact that more than 20 years have passed since his death, fans still gather at the grave and remember what he was like.
