Galina Tyunina - biography, photos, personal life, films and latest news 2020

Biography

Galina Tyunina is a famous Russian actress who is known for her roles in the theater and participation in successful Russian-language film projects. She is the “face” of the Russian community of actors, this woman successfully realizes her bottomless potential in all genres and types of acting - she acts in films and television series, plays in plays and even radio plays, and voices cartoons. Since 2004, this incredible actress has held the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

Actress Galina Tyunina

The girl was born in 1967 in the rural areas of Primorsky Krai. The actress’s parents are a doctor and an engineer, so the girl had no prerequisites for a creative profession. At a young age, the family of the future famous actress moved to the Moscow region. Here, in her teenage years, a girl accidentally ended up at a rehearsal in a theater group, where she instantly fell in love with this field of activity. The theater captured all the attention of young Galina, after the circle she could not imagine her entire adult life outside of dramatic activities.

After graduating from school, the girl goes to conquer the theater stage. However, she does not start immediately by working in the theater, but by receiving secondary vocational education. Galina Tyunina graduated from drama school in Saratov, after which she began working as an actress in the local city theater. Her photos appear on theater posters, and her performances are popular with audiences.

Theater and cinema

Your fellow student at the Saratov School, Evgeny Mironov, now heads the Theater of Nations, where he invites artists from other theaters to some performances. I remember, talking about working together on the film “The Diary of His Wife,” he said that he would be glad to meet you on the theater stage.

Of course, I would be very happy about that too. (Smiles.) But for now we exist in different work schedules, and it is impossible to combine them. I think Zhenya knows what kind of life I live, that’s why he doesn’t invite me to his performances. I cannot combine work in my theater with serious work somewhere on the side, because both need to give part of my life. I remember I had a very interesting acting experience when I played Olga in “Three Sisters” in a play directed by Declan Donnellan. It’s just that his actress was unable to go to the festival in Colombia with this performance, and they turned to us for friendly support - at that time I was already playing the role of Olga in our theater. There was very little time given for rehearsals, and the only thing I could do was try, without destroying anything, to support the team of artists. But this was a one-time experience in my practice.

How do you manage to combine theater with film work?

You know, I don’t work in films so much that I need a lot of time to shoot. But if such a need arises, if there is a desire to act in films, everything can be done in time. Although for me an actor is a person who primarily works on stage. No one has ever exempted an artist from serving the theatrical cause. At one time, film artists even created the Theater-Studio of Film Actors, because the desire to live roles in the theater is in the blood of a person in our profession. To be honest, I don’t really understand how artists live without theatre.

Is acting in advertising also part of the acting profession?

No. This is something completely different, business, but the acting profession has nothing to do with it.

Knowing you more from your work in the theater, I was a little surprised when I found out that you starred in “Watches” with Timur Bekmambetov, it came as a surprise to me. Are you attracted to the unusual genre of duology?

I was attracted by the frivolity and permissiveness of the material. It is much more difficult for me to agree to work that claims to have some kind of philosophical sound. There you can be more afraid of vulgarity and stupidity than when you do something based in advance on material that is not too serious and does not pretend to be any kind of philosophy. Nowadays, an attempt to be thoughtful and correspond to something lofty in general most often ends in failure. And, it seems to me, there is now much more interesting in stupidity than in some pretentious projects, as they say now. Therefore, I agreed to Timur’s offer to star in “Watches” much faster than to any others that were offered to me at that time. In general, thoughtfulness and pretentiousness repels faster than hooliganism. (Smiles.) By the way, about the duology - “Watch” was initially filmed as a whole, and then it was divided into two parts. And first the second “Watch” was filmed, and then the first one was completed.

Do you think this work attracted an audience to your “Workshop” that usually doesn’t come there? After all, a significant part of the blockbuster audience is not theatrical.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't say that nowadays interest in cinema arouses interest in theater. People don't associate a film actor with his work on stage. Those spectators who came to our theater and knew the actress Tyunina before The Watch - they still continue to come. But it’s unlikely that many of those who first saw me in this film went to the theater and “Dozor” provided it with a surge of new audiences. I believe that most viewers who have seen me in films hardly even know where I work.

Did you also meet Bekmambetov during the dubbing of his film “Wanted”?

Yes, I voiced Angelina Jolie's character. It was an interesting process, but difficult. The difficulty is in the rather limited use of language - Jolie says very little there, I can’t say that the word is fully used in the film as a part of the game. That's why I was always missing something. It seemed to me that everything was too stingy, there was more emphasis on the external game. However, this is probably the genre of the film, action.

Have you also voiced several cartoons?

Yes, and it's great fun. I absolutely love the voice acting process. And I really regret that he is leaving modern cinema; everyone began to record with microphones immediately on the set. And dubbing, when couple scenes are written together, as we had when working on “The Diary of His Wife,” is as exciting as playing the entire film over again.

How did your experience in film enrich your work in the theatre?

First of all, these are the people I met there - directors, actors, sound engineers, cameramen - a huge world of people. Communication with professionals in their field. We are enriched only by meeting people. And I carry this communication with me to this day; I cannot forget a single person. That is why I would like any meetings to be non-random.

Theater

Galina moves to Moscow and enters GITIS, after which she begins to explore all the opportunities that a talented actress can find in the capital of the country. However, adaptation in this city was not easy for her; Moscow literally “pressed” Galina, as she later admitted in an interview. A lot of time passed before the actress was able to “settle” in the city and calmly begin her studies.

Galina Tyunina in the theater

Galina is a follower of the Stanislavsky system; for her, the main thing in the work of an actress is the ability to sincerely get used to the role, feel your character and even become one for a while. Movies

The actress skillfully alternates theater work with film work. As a rule, in her career, a successful theatrical production is replaced by a box-office film, which, in turn, is again replaced by a new dramatic project. Galina Tyunina is an extremely versatile actress who performs equally successfully in roles in mass cinema and in original films by independent directors. Galina’s most famous works in cinema are the films “Night Watch”, “The Gift”, “Giselle Mania” and others.

Galina Tyunina in the film “Night Watch”

Currently, the actress is actively continuing to work in her professional field of activity; she is now involved in the filming of a high-budget film, which, according to preliminary estimates from critics, will be a hit in Russia.

Galina Tyunina takes a responsible approach to each of her roles; her distinctive approach to the preparation process is to rewrite lines and even large chunks of the script by hand. The fact is that Galina remembers and perceives text written personally rather than printed on paper better.

The beginning of the way

Galina was born in the Far East, then her parents moved several times and finally settled in the Moscow region, very close to Moscow, 20 minutes along the Kaluga Highway.
At school age she played in a theater studio in the town of Troitsk near Moscow. After the 8th grade, Tyunina went to Saratov to enroll in a theater school. “I wanted to study and thought that I could spend another five years on this. I didn’t make a career for myself. In general, it is quite difficult to make a career in the theater. The theater does not give money, you can only serve the theater. Fame and fame can be earned in cinema. And there is big money there too. Theater is everyday hard work that takes a lot of energy.”

Personal life

Such a bright actress should also have an equally inspiring and stormy romantic and love story. However, Galina Tyunina’s personal life is a real secret. At a young age she got married, and composer Oleg Sinkin became her life partner for a while. The marriage ended in divorce for unclear reasons. It is currently unknown whether she now has a husband or children; Tyunina only brings out her professional activities to the public.

Galina Tyunina and Oleg Sinkin

There are many rumors about the artist’s personal life; she is suspected of office romances with colleagues, but Tyunina herself remains silent on this matter. She prefers to focus on work at work rather than debunking rumors.

Galina Tyunina and Kirill Pirogov

There is a version that Galina has a romantic relationship with Kirill Pirogov, there is even an assumption that the couple allegedly tied the knot a long time ago. There is no evidence to support these assumptions.

As for personal hobbies, actress Galina Tyunina likes to read Russian classical literature and watch old Soviet films. She considers working as an actress a spiritual activity that brings something useful to the people around her. Galina is sure that she is not capable of playing for money; for her, art is much more important than material values.

Theater

“To live is to empathize, create, exist creatively. And playing does not mean pretending, lying, pretending. The theater studio teacher often told us: “Why are you ugly?” So, playing is not being ugly. The word “play” in the theater does not mean hypocrisy. It means sincerity. To be yourself is probably the highest achievement of freedom.”

Galina always follows these principles. That is why she has such vivid images in her performances. In the theater ('Pyotr Fomenko's Workshop'), becoming one of the leading actresses, Galina Tyunina worked with such directors as Pyotr Fomenko, Sergei Zhenovach, Ivan Popovski, Evgeniy Kamenkovich and participated in most productions. It should be noted that all the students of Pyotr Fomenko (and Galina Tyunin) are distinguished by their professionalism in aerobatics. None of their work goes unnoticed. Their performances and films with their participation are always sold out.

Direct speech

“I really like to sit back and enjoy my weekends. I was born on the seaside, albeit a cold one – on the Japanese seaside, and I spent my entire childhood on the shores of the Black Sea. This is probably why I try to go to the sea during my holidays, because I can’t live without it. And with all this, theater is my life. I definitely go to the theater in my “free” time - I just feel an inner need to look at the work that my colleagues are doing. It turns out that this is not a vacation at all.”

“We often go on tour with the theater to France; it has practically become our second home. I also love Italians very much - for their natural temperament. Japan really shocked me at one time - there was something elusive, but very attractive in the air. In general, in order to determine your attitude towards a particular place, you need to live there - to look around not like a tourist, but to capture the inner atmosphere. This is how I would live somewhere abroad, but it’s not a fact that after some time I wouldn’t rush back home. I really love Russia, our people, I adore Moscow. And the more I travel to different cities, the more acutely I feel that it is no coincidence that I live here, in this very reality.”

Galina Tyunina's brother, Nikita Tyunin, followed in her footsteps, becoming an actor.

Galina Tyunina now

In 2020, the scandalous film “Matilda” was released, in which Galina played one of the main roles. The actress will play in the movie the wife of Prince Vladimir named Maria Pavlovna. Filming for the film was lengthy, and its production took all of 2016. The main roles in the film were also played by Danila Kozlovsky, Mikhalina Olshanskaya and Lars Eidinger. The film tells the story of the adultery of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and the talented ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya.

The artist’s dream is to live in Italy, but this is currently impossible due to her busy work schedule. Galina also loves to travel around the world; Japan made a special impression on the actress.

Nikita Tyunin

Nikita Tyunin was born in the city of Sochi, in the family of an engineer and a doctor. In 1976, his family moved to Troitsk near Moscow, where the future actor spent his childhood. Nikita's older sister Galina Tyunina, while studying at school, studied in the children's theater studio at the House of Scientists. Young Nikita was attracted by the atmosphere of the studio; he did not miss a single performance of his sister. Finally, in third grade, he was accepted into the troupe. How happy he was! Nikita talks about the time spent in the theater studio: “We had wonderful performances, and our director Larisa Dmitrievna built the repertoire in a very interesting way. There were different plays in it - from ancient Greek to modern ones. (Galya played Electra in the play based on ancient Greek plays). I remember that in one of the performances I played the chairman of the detachment council, I adored this role. In Shakespeare's play he played Dudka, an apprentice grinder and bellows blower. I remembered this experience when I was rehearsing Plato’s “Feast” at the Vasilyev Theater and improvised well on the theme of playing musical instruments. And in the House of Scientists there was a wonderful staircase with wide railings, and after rehearsals we were always sliding down it.” At the age of 11, Nikita made his debut on the silver screen. In Roman Viktyuk’s television film “Long Memory,” which tells the story of the pioneer hero, intelligence officer Volodya Dubinin, who died in battle with the Nazi invaders, he played the main role. Before graduating from school, Nikita also starred in the films “Autumn Meeting”, “Musical Shift” and “Goo-Ga”. Parents were very good about their children's passion for theater. They were both creative people and in their free time they sang in the choir at the House of Scientists. Therefore, when Galina decided to enter a theater university, dad himself took her to Saratov by car. Nikita had no doubts either. True, at one time he was thinking about the Suvorov School, but already in high school he decided to become an actor! Nikita Tyunin received his acting education at GITIS (now RATI) on the course of A. Goncharov. In 1995, Nikita graduated from the institute, after which he worked for some time at the theater. V. Mayakovsky. In 1997, Nikita Tyunin came to Anatoly Vasiliev at his theater “School of Dramatic Art”. Here the actor simultaneously played in plays and improved his skills in a laboratory opened at the theater. When asked why he chose Anatoly Vasiliev, Nikita Tyunin himself answered: “You know, Stanislavsky has a funny expression: “Artificial irritation of the periphery of the body,” and actors on stage often do this. Instead, I wanted to understand the structure of the theater and the rules of acting. The study of Plato’s texts, which we played in Vasiliev’s laboratory, helped me a lot in this.” Tyunin worked at the School of Dramatic Art until 2003, and was involved in the plays: “Pushkin’s Matinee,” “Mozart and Salieri,” “The Iliad,” “From Onegin’s Journey,” etc. In 2005, the actor joined the theater troupe “ Workshop of Pyotr Fomenko" (where, by the way, his sister Galina Tyunina works). Vasiliev and Fomenko are two different schools. “Of course,” says Nikita Tyunin, “Fomenko’s Workshop is a different world for me. Although, while rehearsing the play “Rhinoceros” with Ivan Popovsky (my work at the “Workshop” began with Ivan’s offer to play in this play), I remembered how we rehearsed the dialogues of Erasmus of Rotterdam with Vasiliev. The texts of absurdist playwrights are very similar to them. I remember how Pyotr Naumovich, after watching the run of “Rhino,” said that each of us needs to find the fight against the rhino within ourselves. It was a novelty to me then.” From the actor’s works performed in the “P. Fomenko Workshop”: Monsieur Papillon in the play “Rhinoceros”, Tractor Driver in the play “One Absolutely Happy Village”, Duke Frederick in “The Tale of the Ardennes Forest”, Filka-Vaska in “Triptych”, Luka in performance "After the Curtain". As already noted, Nikita began his journey into cinema at a young age. While studying at GITIS, the actor continued acting. Thus, in Lev Kulidzhanov’s drama “Forget-Me-Nots” he played one of the main roles - a young officer named Volodya. And soon after graduating from the institute, Tyunin starred in the famous film by Valery Todorovsky “Country of the Deaf” (with Chulpan Khamatova and Dina Korzun in the lead roles). His hero was Alexei, a passionate gambler who owed the casino owner a large sum and was forced to go into hiding because of this. And this role was voiced by the famous actor Sergei Bezrukov. In the next decade, Nikita Tyunin periodically appeared in various TV series (“Next 2”, “Turkish March”, “Children of the Arbat”, etc.) Finally, in 2007, he was invited to play the main role in the eight-episode war film “Death to Spies!” telling about the events of 1944. Nikita created the image of SMERSHevts captain Ivan Petrovich Sirota. In special preparation for filming, the actor read Bogomolov’s novel about SMERSH, “The Moment of Truth,” on which the famous film “In August ’44” was filmed. As Nikita admits: “The book inspired me to work. I was interested in the story itself, it was interesting to get into this person. The orphan is a normal guy, without any rottenness - he’s a professional.” A year later, the continuation of the film was released - “Death to Spies. Crimea”, also consisting of eight episodes. Nikita Tyunin's wife Elena is a subscription manager at a publishing house. The couple are raising a daughter, Aglaya (born in 2000).
