Biography of actor Boris Khvoshnyansky: film roles and personal life

The life of this talented actor, who in appearance is in no way inferior to the ancient Greek Apollo, is scheduled minute by minute. Boris Khvoshnyansky is literally torn between filming films and working on the theater stage. Today he can play varied roles. Boris Khvoshnyansky can, for example, delicately transform into a “corrupt” journalist (“Gangster Petersburg 4”), a successful showman (“Can I call you mom”) and a shrewd operative (“Hounds”). And the parents of the St. Petersburg actor could not even imagine that their son would connect his fate with the art of transformation. What was remarkable in the actor’s biography?

Years of childhood and youth

Boris Anatolyevich Khvoshnyansky, whose filmography today includes more than 80 films, was born in the city on the Neva on February 17, 1968. His father was engaged in constant research in the production of rocket engines, his mother worked as an engineer and was fond of music.

She wanted to instill her hobby in her offspring. What did Boris Khvoshnyansky play in his childhood? And on the xylophone, and on castanets, and on the piano... One way or another, the teenager was never able to master the notes. But he had excellent hearing, so he learned to play instruments quite well.

As a child, Boris Khvoshnyansky was a mischievous boy. He easily got into arguments with teachers and often behaved like hooligans in class. But already in adolescence, Boris began to show interest in the art of acting. He decided to enroll in classes at the local Youth Theater (Youth Theater). After some time in this cultural institution, he made friends with whom he often performed on stage. Gradually, the young man became convinced that he must become an actor.

Visiting universities

Dad worked enthusiastically on inventions (he has 24 patents on his record), so mom spent more time with her son. Under her supervision, the boy went to music school, where he learned to play castanets, xylophone and piano. Borya was never able to learn the musical staff, but he honed his hearing to perfection.

Despite such hobbies, Boris grew up as a cocky guy who knew how to stand up for himself. In high school, he became seriously interested in theater, and after classes he ran to the House of Pioneers, which had a theater group.

After graduating from school, young Khvoshnyansky took the documents to the legendary Leningrad LGITMiK, but the entrance exams became an insurmountable barrier for Boris.

At the Pedagogical Institute, the exams were simpler, and Khvoshnyansky was enrolled as a student there. After studying for one semester, the young man realized that he had no interest in pedagogy and abandoned uninteresting classes.

He continued to dream of a big stage and went to the Rimsky-Korsakov Music School, where he looked into the department of musical comedy. But summonses from the military registration and enlistment office did not allow Khvoshnyansky to study at this institution.

The future theater and film actor served in the repair battalion of a tank brigade. He never managed to touch a weapon, but he learned to disassemble all complex mechanisms with a wrench.

The attraction to art did not dry up - in his unit, Boris Khvoshnyansky created a musical ensemble, the repertoire of which was popular with colleagues and officers.

Having given his allotted two years to his homeland, Boris Khvoshnyansky returned to his hometown and once again knocked on the doors of LGITMiK. This time fate was favorable to him. Boris’s classmates were Igor Lifanov and Dmitry Nagiyev, and the creative atmosphere at the university was remembered forever.

By the time he received his diploma, Khvoshnyansky participated in the plays “The Seagull” and “Warm Heart,” but he looked at his future without rose-colored glasses. It was the turbulent 90s, all over the country theaters were closing one after another, and the quality of cinema had dropped significantly.

In order to somehow survive, Khvoshnyansky connected himself with music. For some time he worked as a bass guitarist in the Pepsi group. Then he got a job at the Vremya Theater, with which he went on tour in Germany.

Boris Khvoshnyansky stayed for six years at the Buff Theater, on the stage of which he played several interesting roles. Then, with several actors from Buff, he moved to the Funny Theater, where he still plays.

“The first pancake turned out to be lumpy”

Having received a matriculation certificate, Boris Anatolyevich submits documents to LGITMiK for the acting department. However, the young man does not pass the competitive selection. Khvoshnyansky does not despair and enters the Pedagogical Institute. Herzen. But after a semester, the young man realizes: the teaching profession is not his path. In the depths of his soul, he still hoped that he would still be able to get into a theater university, but as an alternative he chose the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College, where students were also engaged in creative work.

In this alma mater he will study in the department of musical comedy, but only for two months...

Diversified roles

Boris Khvoshnyansky is not an actor of one theater, much less one role. His roles are varied:

  • “Gangster Petersburg” - the role of a morally unscrupulous journalist.
  • “Can I call you mom” - got the role of a showman.
  • "Hounds" - the role of a savvy operative.

However, before these series, in 1993 there was also the film “Poor, Poor Pavel.” A historical film where the actor played the role of de Ribas.

Boris Khvoshnyansky, due to his inexperience, believed that working in the theater was not fundamentally different from working in cinema. But on the set, everything happens differently, which Vitaly Melnikov (director) pointed out to him, forcing him to work in this direction.

Attempt No. 2

After demobilization, the young man decided to once again “storm” the theater university, and this time fortune smiled on him. At LGITMiK he took the course of V. Petrov. His classmates turned out to be Igor Lifanov and Dmitry Nagiyev. Boris Anatolyevich was involved in two graduation performances: in one he played a small role of a gypsy (“Warm Heart”), and in the second he played the role of Konstantin Treplev (“The Seagull”).

However, the time when Khvoshnyansky graduated was a crisis for both theater and cinema: the staff of troupes was reduced, actors did not receive salaries for several months, Soviet film studios were closed.

Biography

Boris Khvoshnyansky was born into the family of an engineer-inventor.
My father worked at the Leningrad enterprise “Znamya Truda”, developing rocket engines. Since childhood, my mother was fond of music and also tried to get her son addicted to great art. Boris learned to play various musical instruments: piano, castanets, xylophone. In high school, he began studying at the Leningrad Theater of Youth Creativity in the Palace of Pioneers. Boris recalls: “There were different roles, which, to be honest, I don’t remember very much - there were quite a lot of them. And, besides, when I studied at TYUT, this was not the main thing. There was another thrill there – communication.”

It was then that Boris realized that he would definitely become an actor and after school he applied for the acting course at LGITMiK (now SPbGATI), but failed. He entered the Herzen Pedagogical Institute, however, after six months he left the university. Boris was drafted into the army. He calls the years of service lost. “He served in a tank regiment, in a repair battalion. The tank was seen only twice from a distance of about a hundred meters. This is such a service...,” recalls the actor. Having been demobilized, Boris Khvoshnyansky again made an attempt to enter LGITMiK, and this time it was successful.

He studied with Igor Lifanov and Dmitry Nagiyev. Boris Anatolyevich recalls: “The course was wonderful, there were a lot of talented people. We had two graduation performances, “Warm Heart” and “The Seagull”. In “The Seagull” I was directly involved in the role of Konstantin Gavrilovich Treplev. And in “Warm Heart” I had a very small role - I played a gypsy. I was brightly colored like a Papuan: black eyes, a huge greedy mouth, bright clothes, everything fluttered on me. I sang some desperate gypsy song there..."

Graduated from the institute in 1992. At this time, a crisis reigned in the country, theaters were dying, film studios were curtailing filming.

Carier start

In 1992, Boris Anatolyevich received the coveted diploma. But since no one was in a hurry to offer him roles in films and theater, Khvoshnyansky decided to make money from music, getting a job as a bassist in the Pepsi group. A year later, a graduate of LGITMiK joined the troupe of the Vremya theater, and then began collaborating with the start-up creative team “Sergey Rost and Dmitry Nagiyev”. Working with these guys confirmed that Boris Khvoshnyansky is a truly versatile actor who can do a lot. True, a little later the young man was attracted to the Buff Theater, but the aspiring actor did not have any special illusions about developing a career there. Nevertheless, over six years of work in the above-mentioned Melpomene temple, Boris Anatolyevich gained good experience, thanks to artistic director Isaac Shtokbant, who demanded from the troupe maximum communication with the audience on stage. Then Khvoshnyansky sets off on an independent voyage, concentrating on working in enterprise performances. But at the beginning of the 2000s, he joined the troupe of the “Funny Theater”, which was directed by Boris Uvarov. On the stage of this temple of Melpomene, Boris Khvoshnyansky, whose filmography today can impress any novice actor, participated in productions with a bright and unpredictable plot.

Gradually, changes for the better emerged in Russian theater and cinema.

An excerpt characterizing Khvoshnyansky, Boris Anatolyevich

It was about eleven o'clock in the morning. The sun stood somewhat to the left and behind Pierre and brightly illuminated through the clean, rare air the huge panorama that opened up before him like an amphitheater across the rising terrain. Up and to the left along this amphitheater, cutting it, wound the great Smolensk road, passing through a village with a white church, which lay five hundred steps in front of the mound and below it (this was Borodino). The road crossed under the village across a bridge and, through ups and downs, wound higher and higher to the village of Valuev, visible six miles away (Napoleon was now standing there). Beyond Valuev, the road disappeared into a yellowing forest on the horizon. In this birch and spruce forest, to the right of the direction of the road, the distant cross and bell tower of the Kolotsk Monastery glittered in the sun. All along this blue distance, to the right and left of the forest and the road, in different places one could see smoking fires and indefinite masses of our and enemy’s troops. To the right, along the flow of the Kolocha and Moskva rivers, the area was gorged and mountainous. Between their gorges the villages of Bezzubovo and Zakharyino could be seen in the distance. To the left, the terrain was more level, there were fields with grain, and one smoking, burnt village could be seen - Semenovskaya. Everything that Pierre saw to the right and to the left was so vague that neither the left nor the right side of the field completely satisfied his idea. Everywhere there was not the battle that he expected to see, but fields, clearings, troops, forests, smoke from fires, villages, mounds, streams; and no matter how much Pierre tried, he could not find a position in this lively area and could not even distinguish your troops from the enemy. “We need to ask someone who knows,” he thought and turned to the officer, who was looking with curiosity at his huge non-military figure. “Let me ask,” Pierre turned to the officer, “what village is ahead?” - Burdino or what? - said the officer, turning to his comrade with a question. “Borodino,” the other answered, correcting him. The officer, apparently pleased with the opportunity to talk, moved towards Pierre. - Are ours there? – asked Pierre. “Yes, and the French are further away,” said the officer. - There they are, visible. - Where? Where? – asked Pierre. - You can see it with the naked eye. Yes, here you go! “The officer pointed to the smoke visible to the left across the river, and his face showed that stern and serious expression that Pierre had seen on many faces he met. - Oh, these are the French! And there?.. - Pierre pointed to the left at the mound, near which troops could be seen. - These are ours. - Oh, ours! And there?.. - Pierre pointed to another distant mound with a large tree, near a village visible in the gorge, where fires were also smoking and something was black. “It’s him again,” said the officer. (This was the Shevardinsky redoubt.) - Yesterday it was ours, and now it’s his. – So what is our position? - Position? - said the officer with a smile of pleasure. “I can tell you this clearly, because I built almost all of our fortifications.” You see, our center is in Borodino, right here. “He pointed to a village with a white church in front. - There is a crossing over Kolocha. Here, you see, where the rows of mown hay still lie in the low place, here is the bridge. This is our center. Our right flank is here (he pointed sharply to the right, far into the gorge), there is the Moscow River, and there we built three very strong redoubts. Left flank... - and then the officer stopped. - You see, it’s difficult to explain to you... Yesterday our left flank was right there, in Shevardin, you see, where the oak is; and now we have carried the left wing back, now there, there - see the village and the smoke? “This is Semenovskoye, right here,” he pointed to the Raevsky mound. “But it’s unlikely there will be a battle here.” That he transferred troops here is a deception; he will probably go around to the right of Moscow. Well, no matter where it is, many will be missing tomorrow! - said the officer. The old non-commissioned officer, who approached the officer during his story, silently awaited the end of his superior's speech; but at this point he, obviously dissatisfied with the officer’s words, interrupted him. “You have to go for the tours,” he said sternly. The officer seemed embarrassed, as if he realized that he could think about how many people would be missing tomorrow, but he shouldn’t talk about it. “Well, yes, send the third company again,” the officer said hastily. - Who are you, not a doctor? “No, I am,” answered Pierre. And Pierre went downhill again past the militia. - Oh, damned ones! - said the officer following him, holding his nose and running past the workers. “There they are!.. They’re carrying, they’re coming... There they are... they’re coming in now...” suddenly voices were heard, and officers, soldiers and militiamen ran forward along the road. A church procession rose from under the mountain from Borodino. Ahead of everyone, infantry marched orderly along the dusty road with their shakos removed and guns lowered downwards. Church singing could be heard behind the infantry. Overtaking Pierre, soldiers and militiamen ran without hats towards the marchers. - They are carrying Mother! Intercessor!.. Iverskaya!.. “Mother of Smolensk,” corrected another. The militia - both those who were in the village and those who worked at the battery - threw down their shovels and ran towards the church procession. Behind the battalion, walking along a dusty road, were priests in robes, one old man in a hood with a clergyman and a chanter. Behind them, soldiers and officers carried a large icon with a black face in the setting. It was an icon taken from Smolensk and from that time carried with the army. Behind the icon, around it, in front of it, from all sides, crowds of military men walked, ran and bowed to the ground with their heads naked. Having ascended the mountain, the icon stopped; The people holding the icon on the towels changed, the sextons lit the censer again, and the prayer service began. The hot rays of the sun beat vertically from above; a weak, fresh breeze played with the hair of open heads and the ribbons with which the icon was decorated; singing was heard softly in the open air. A huge crowd of officers, soldiers, and militiamen with their heads open surrounded the icon. Behind the priest and sexton, in a cleared area, stood the officials. One bald general with George around his neck stood right behind the priest and, without crossing himself (obviously, he was a man), patiently waited for the end of the prayer service, which he considered necessary to listen to, probably to arouse the patriotism of the Russian people. Another general stood in a militant pose and shook his hand in front of his chest, looking around him. Among this circle of officials, Pierre, standing in the crowd of men, recognized some acquaintances; but he did not look at them: all his attention was absorbed by the serious expression of faces in this crowd of soldiers and soldiers, monotonously greedily looking at the icon. As soon as the tired sextons (singing the twentieth prayer service) began to lazily and habitually sing: “Save your servants from troubles, Mother of God,” and the priest and deacon picked up: “As we all resort to you for God’s sake, as for an indestructible wall and intercession,” - to everyone the same expression of consciousness of the solemnity of the coming moment, which he saw under the mountain in Mozhaisk and in fits and starts on many, many faces he met that morning, flared up on their faces again; and more often heads were lowered, hair was shaken, and sighs and the blows of crosses on chests were heard.

Test balloon in cinema

Boris Anatolyevich first appeared on the set in 1993. Director Yuri Pavlov gave him the opportunity to play a small episode. Then he did not act in films for several years. Only in 1998 did Boris Khvoshnyansky, whose films are quite popular among viewers today, continue his film career. And this time he got a supporting role, but in the cult series “Streets of Broken Lanterns.” In 1998, a graduate of LGITMiK was invited to star in “National Security Agent,” where he skillfully played a chemist who specialized in the production of narcotic drugs. But if we talk about feature films, the actor’s first work was the film “Poor, Poor Pavel” (dir. V. Melnikov, 1993). In it, the actor appeared in the image of a statesman and military commander Osip Mikhailovich de Ribas. It was a film based on historical events. The actor, recalling the role of de Ribas, said the following in an interview: “I went onto the set and began to transform into the character the way I was used to doing it in the theater, thinking to myself that the difference was small: what to play in the temple of Melpomene, what in front of the operator's camera."

As it turned out later, the actor made a serious mistake when he equated acting on the theater stage with acting in films. Director Vitaly Melnikov then pointed out to Khvoshnyansky his mistake and forced him to work on himself.

However, real fame and recognition came to Boris Anatolyevich after the release of the series “Opera. Chronicles of the Homicide Department”, where he masterfully portrayed the experienced detective Porfiry Knyazhenko-Gnedich. His colleagues simply called him Prince. It should be emphasized that directors often invite Khvoshnyansky to star in TV series where he plays both positive and negative characters. “Hounds”, “Diller”, “Amazons”, “Protected Persons”, “Gunpowder and Shot” - these serial films brought the actor even greater popularity. Moreover, today Boris Anatolyevich is at the very zenith of his creativity and it is already known that he will certainly delight fans of his talent with new works in cinema.

In-demand actor

Currently, the actor is so busy with work in theater and cinema that he has practically no time for himself.

He manages to work in several films at the same time, and in between them he plays in private performances. At the same time, Boris Anatolyevich has long reached a level that allows him to be selective about the roles offered, so in some cases he does not consider it shameful to refuse the director.

New cinema

In the end, the times of perestroika hackwork and outright nonsense of the 90s were coming to an end. However, at the end of the decade, the first glimpses of something intelligible and meaningful appeared:

  1. Series "Streets of Broken Lanterns". Episodic role.
  2. Series "National Security Agent". Here he was more visible because the role was larger.
  3. "Doctor Faustus" is the sixth episode of The Agent. He played the role of a chemist who specialized in the production of drugs.

And the 21st century has made Russian cinema better. There was also a place for Boris in it.

Outside the profession

Boris Khvoshnyansky, whose personal life is developing in the best way today, is an exemplary family man and caring father. His wife Yulia Sharikova, like him, belongs to the acting community. They first met on the set of the film “Dancer,” where a graduate of LGITMiK and a graduate of the Moscow Art Theater School played the main roles. However, no sympathy arose between them at the moment they met; on the contrary, they were a little burdened by the partnership on the set, so they did not succeed in playing lovers the first time.

Then Julia was the first to decide to establish contact with her partner and invited Boris for a cup of coffee. He agreed, and after a casual conversation, a friendship began between the actors, which grew into a strong feeling. They began to live in a civil marriage, and in 2007 a daughter, Sonya, was born into their family. The actor tries to devote more time to her, despite his busy work schedule.

Boris Khvoshnyansky now

In 2020, Boris’s list of film works was expanded with the crime thriller “The Chess Queen” about the theft of diamonds. His hero, the investigator, did not find the culprits 20 years ago, and returns to the case at the request of the heirs of the suspects. And among Khvoshnyansky’s “fans” there was a cat who lived on the set and never left the lead actor’s side.

In the film adaptation of Tatyana Ustinova’s novel “Selfie with Destiny,” suspicion of murder falls on the character of Boris, a popular film director.

Vasily Livanov’s historical drama “The Bronze Horseman of Russia” immersed the cast in the era of Catherine II. The film tells about the creation of the monument to Peter I. Khvoshnyansky here reincarnated as a captain of the imperial guard.

Boris Khvoshnyansky in 2020,
Sergei Ginzburg, the ex-husband of Yana Poplavskaya, invited the artist to the melodrama “Cathedral,” also dedicated to the past of Russia. Boris was accompanied by Yan Tsapnik, Yulia Snigir, Alexander Baluev and Maxim Averin.

The series “Sand Castle” tells about the late 90s, about a woman who lost everything and started her life over. Khvoshnyansky played a man with whom the main character, according to the audience, “could have worked out something,” but the scriptwriters foresaw a different ending.

With the leading actress Ekaterina Olkina, Boris is starring in the action movie “The Techie,” only there he appears in the background. The first is assigned to Vladimir Zherebtsov and Viktor Dobronravov.

As it later turned out, it was that cup of coffee that marked the beginning of a new relationship in the personal life of Boris Khvoshnyansky. Then the girl already seemed very pretty and sweet to him, so Boris wanted to spend more time with her.

In 2007, five years after the lovers began living together, the actors had a child. Julia gave her lover a daughter, whom the new parents decided to name Sonya. After the birth of the child, the actors turned into a full-fledged unit of society. Currently, the girl lives with her grandmother and does not see her beloved parents for a long time, who constantly disappear during rehearsals and filming. As you know, Boris also has an older heir who lives with his mother and occasionally meets with his father. The artist himself categorically refuses to discuss his first relationship with representatives of the press.

Despite the fact that Yulia Sharikova and Boris Khvoshnyansky have been together for about 12 years, the couple has never formalized their relationship. Most likely, the constant employment of artists is to blame for this.

“Yulia and I are still planning our wedding celebration, but we just can’t turn our plans into reality. I myself think that there is nothing wrong with this. The main thing is that I have a family, a wife and children. A stamp in a passport is not at all capable of changing anything in a marital relationship.”

Extensive filmography

To date, his filmography includes more than eight dozen different films. He received true fame and appreciation from the audience only after the series “Opera. Chronicles of the Homicide Department,” where he played the role of a detective.

Considering Boris Anatolyevich’s versatility as an actor, he is invited to play the roles of both negative and positive characters:

  1. "Dealer".
  2. "Protected persons".
  3. "Amazons".
  4. “Gunpowder and shot,” etc.

It was these serial films that made the actor even more popular.
