Childhood and youth
Dmitry Sergeevich Monatik, a Ukrainian by nationality, was born in the city of Lutsk (Western Ukraine) in the spring of 1986. His family was not particularly wealthy. My father worked wherever there was work. He either assembled engines for aircraft at one plant, or was engaged in the production of foam rubber at another. Mom worked as a secretary in the city executive committee for a modest salary. Much later, when their son grew up, the parents managed to start their own small business.
Monatik grew up as an ordinary guy, interested in the same things as hundreds of his peers. Probably, the moment of the start of his career can be considered the mini-show of local breakdancing fans seen in the center of Lutsk. The eighth-grader watched in fascination the magic of the dance and understood: something was happening within him that would soon change his life. By the end of the dance, Monatik already knew for sure that he would soon move no worse. Moreover, the boy’s build at that time fit into the definition of “short, strong man.”

Monatik and his son
That's what happened. He soon turned into the best break dancer not only in his hometown, but also far beyond its borders. The DBS Crew, in which he performed, often toured the country.
However, Monatic’s creative biography is not limited solely to dancing. It turned out that the grandson inherited amazing talents from his grandfathers. One of the grandfathers, despite the fact that he was born deaf and dumb, danced beautifully and achieved results in sports. And the other grandfather sang and was considered a virtuoso accordion player. The genes of his ancestors mixed in the guy and began to manifest themselves with increasing force. Dima Monatik also sang, and very well.
After graduating from school, it was necessary to decide on a profession. The parents wanted their son to receive a serious education at a young age, and let singing and dancing be a pleasant bonus to his fundamental specialty. In 2003, the young man entered the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management, where he chose the Faculty of Law. But, serving as a duty, he lived only by singing and dancing in the evening.
Height, weight, figure parameters
Dmitry was born on April 1, 1986 - he is currently 32 years old. According to his zodiac sign he is Aries. And this is a bright fiery energy that constantly requires an outlet. It’s good that Dima realizes it in vigorous all-round creativity, otherwise, like most Aries, he could be a zealous brawler.
His rather short height is striking - 164 centimeters. At the same time, he also has a tendency to be overweight - with varying success, his weight is kept at approximately 75 kilograms.

Personal life
At the end of 2015, rumors began to circulate that Dima Monatica’s personal life, which he so carefully hides, was happy. Dmitry's fans claim that he is married to a beauty named Irina Demicheva, who gave birth to her husband's first child. The celebrity's wife leads a non-public lifestyle.
Attentive Monatik fans found confirmation of the rumors on the social network page of Dmitry’s stage colleague Yulia Sanina, who gave birth to a baby at the same time. She posted a photo with her newborn son and congratulated all her colleagues who became parents in 2015. Among them was the name Monatica.

Monatic and wife Irina Demicheva
At that time, the singer’s press service did not comment on this information; probably, Monatik himself did not want to advertise his personal life. And only in 2020 he decided to lift the veil of secrecy over his family. The man gave an interview to VIVA magazine, in which he admitted that he and his wife Irina are raising two sons. He admires his children, and in April 2020 he even published a photo on Instagram with the boys.
Now the feelings of the married couple have not faded at all. Irina continues to inspire Dmitry to do romantic things. In early August, the singer congratulated his beloved on her birthday by posting her photo with a poetic comment on his account.
Dmitry Monatik in the show “Everybody Dance” and “X-Factor”
Since 2010, Monatic began dancing under the direction of choreographer Nikolai Boychenko in the ballet “D'Arts”. He starred in several episodes of the series “Mukhtar”, and also went to the show “Everybody Dance!”, where he reached the top thirty dancers. And he decided to test his vocal talent in the show “X Factor”, where he made it all the way to the final qualifying round and became one of the best performers in the country.
In 2011, together with choreographer Nikolai Boychenko and the ballet “D'Arts”, Dima Monatik shot his first video for the song “Tay Flying” on a mobile phone and posted it on YouTube, where it created a sensation. Quite quickly he became a sought-after songwriter. He wrote the first song “40 degrees” for Svetlana Loboda, and it topped the national charts. The song brought him popularity and the 2014 YUNA Award in the “Best Song” category. Another of his songs, “By Myself,” was performed by the ex-soloist of the group “Via Gra,” Eva Bushmina.
Monatic's first solo album was called "S.S.D.", which means "Soundtrack of Today." The album was released in 2013 and included 13 tracks.
Music and TV shows
In search of fame and recognition, Monatik went to the casting of the 2nd season of the popular show “Star Factory”, conducted by the New Channel. Unfortunately, the guy was just a little short of getting into the project. But at the casting, Dmitry was noticed by a Ukrainian star - singer Natalia Mogilevskaya. She saw talent in the boy from Lutsk and took him to ballet. The future artist moved to the capital.
After working in the Mogilevskaya team, the dancer got a job at the Kyiv dance school-studio Turbo. The young man was hired as a dance teacher and administrator. The country's best choreographers worked here. Monatik realized that he was in a place where he would grow as a professional. He carefully watched the training conducted by recognized dance masters.
At the same time, the guy developed his second talent - musical. He managed to assemble his own team, to which he gave the name Monatique. After hard training, the guys went to the childhood city of their leader - Lutsk, where they gave two concerts. Among their songs there were those whose lyrics were written by Monatic.
In 2010, Dima auditioned for the D'arts ballet, directed by choreographer Nikolai Boychenko. In the same year, the dancer and musician starred in episodes of the popular TV series “Mukhtar”, and most importantly, became a participant in the television project “Everybody Dance!” From several thousand contestants, the jury chose the 100 best who went to Yalta. Here, foreign and Ukrainian choreographers worked with the participants for a week. Monatic managed to get into the top thirty.

The disappointment of not being able to enter the top twenty was quickly replaced by joy in anticipation of new victories. Monatik was taken to the vocal talent show “X-Factor” on STB. The young man made it to the final qualifying round, managed to prove to the judges that he is a talented vocalist, and earned the title of the best performer in the country.
2011 was marked for the vocalist with the release of his debut video “Tay Flying Away”, recorded on a mobile phone together with Nikolai Boychenko and the D'Arts ballet. Dmitry's talent as an author also turned out to be in demand. The first artist to perform Monatik’s musical composition “40 degrees” was Svetlana Loboda. The track instantly became the leader of the national hit parade, and people started talking about Dmitry as a talented author.
The song “On My Own” soon followed, with which Eva Bushmina began her solo career after leaving the VIA Gra team. For Anna Sedokova, the singer created a remix of the hit “Piranha” and released a joint single “Hush.” The artist had a solo concert program “Now”, with which he went on a tour of Ukraine. Dmitry also wrote compositions that were included in the repertoire of Alina Grosu, Dima Bilan and Seryoga.
Such success inspired Dmitry, and he took up his solo career with renewed vigor. In 2015, the album “Soundtrack of Today (S.S.D.)” was released, and in 2016, the second album of Dmitry’s solo discography, called “Sounds,” appeared.

In 2015, Monatik also presented a video for the track “Wet,” which he had previously recorded in collaboration with the group Quest Pistols Show. The video became the musical embodiment of the philosophy of a large-scale dance show. Thus, the artists continued to revive and develop the dance subculture and with a new project reminded viewers that body language is the most honest, and dance is the best way to communicate feelings.
Monatik’s song “Smiling,” included in the first album, turned into a hit. And in the second, fans of his talent noted the composition “Spin.”
Next, the songwriter was entrusted with judging in the Ukrainian television project “The Voice. Children". It seems that he found himself in his native element, remembering how he took his first hesitant steps on stage, having arrived in the capital from provincial Lutsk. Dmitry took the judge's chair in the 3rd and 4th seasons of the project, while in the first of them Tina Karol and Potap became his colleagues in the coaching workshop, and in the second - musicians of the group “Time and Glass” and Natalya Mogilevskaya.
Monatic managed to find a common language with the younger generation. And if at the beginning the finalist from his team, Vladislav Fenichko, took 2nd place, then the participant of the next season, Daneliya Tuleshova, became the winner. The girl represented Kazakhstan, her track record at that time included the audience award of the “Children’s New Wave” 2020 and the Grand Prix “Ayalagan Astana - 2015”.

Monatik and Anna Sedokova
Monatik's music videos often appear on TV and enjoy unprecedented success. In 2020, the singer became a guest of the “Evening Kyiv” program, whose TV presenter was Vladimir Zelensky. On air, the artist said that in his youth he wore long hair, and his small height (164.5 cm with a weight of 75 kg) did not hinder him in his creative career.
In 2016, together with Vera Brezhneva, the artist performed at the M1 Music Awards. Fans of the couple’s work liked the idea of the organizers - they simply combined the artists’ songs “Love will save the world” and “Circulate”, turning them into one composition. The singers embellished their performance with active dancing and contact with the audience.
In 2020, it was Monatic who opened the first semi-final of Eurovision 2017. He performed his hit “Spinning” in English.
In the same year, Dmitry recorded the hit “Hot” with Svetlana Loboda and shot a video for the composition “UVLIUVT”. The result was a real short dance blockbuster. The story about two crazy lovers was liked by fans. Like the musician’s previous works, this is a bright picture, unbridled energy and dancing.
Entrepreneurs are trying to take advantage of the artist’s recognition, but Monatic only signs contracts with large brands. In 2017, he became the face of an advertising campaign for the release of Samsung Galaxy A. A year later, he starred in a Russian advertisement for mobile communications, performing the original musical composition “All the music of the world is in your gadget.”
The singer actively tours, however, in February 2017 he found himself at the epicenter of a political scandal. The SBU banned Monatik from giving concerts in Russia. Despite the fact that all tickets had long been sold, the musician had to cancel his performances. Until now, he has not commented on what happened.

Monatik and Daria Shapovalova
In April 2020, the singer gave an interview to the online publication Meduza. Of course, the journalist asked him about this too. But, as before, the artist refused to answer. When asked if he was going to visit Russia in the near future, he replied that he had no plans yet.
However, this does not in any way prevent him from collaborating with Russian colleagues. For example, he recorded the track “Dream” with rapper L`One. It’s interesting that while working on the song, the musicians never met in person and communicated exclusively online. Back in 2020, Ukraine banned L'One from entering the country for 3 years.
In March 2018, the artist went on a tour of America and Canada, presenting the Vitamin B concert program to the audience. And shortly before leaving, he became the best performer of the year at the YUNA Award. He also won in the categories “Best Video” and “Best Concert Show”. And then he presented the song “Now Let’s Dance,” which fans remembered for its dance rhythms and the positive attitude with which Dmitry performed it.
In April 2020, Monatik took part in the social project of Ukraine “When paintings start talking.” He voiced the audio guide for Alexander Gnilitsky’s work “Dad, the helmet is pressing.” This is not his first experience in dubbing; before that, he “gave” his voice to Eddie the ram in the cartoon “The Animal”.
In July, the artist presented fans with a summer video for the song “Deep,” which he performed together with Nadezhda Dorofeeva. Monatik wrote the music and lyrics for the composition himself. The video about the “beautiful danger” that the hero of the song had to face has collected more than one million views in the public domain.

Monatik and Valery Guzema
In January 2020, Monatik was first invited as a mentor to the Ukrainian vocal show of the 1+1 channel “Voice of the Country”, where he assessed the performances of the participants along with Dan Balan, Tina Karol and Potap, and then recruited students for the team . However, this season did not end very well for the artist: the singer’s ward Victoria Oleynik took only 4th place.
Monatik then began working on a new album. It also included the single “What You’re Crazy About,” for which the singer had previously shot a video. It is noteworthy that this work differs from those presented previously. The clip shows the plot; director Tanya Muinho managed to create the atmosphere of an action movie in the 90s, when guys went crazy about films with Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.
The album called “LOVE IT rhythm” was released in mid-2019. In total, it includes 20 tracks, some of which the artist’s fans have already heard before. And soon the musician shot a colorful video for the song from this record “Every Time”. According to Monatic, in this video he “filmed freedom.” It tells how people try to find freedom. It was not without reason that the man chose the streets and beaches of Havana as a location for filming, because the state of Cuba is known as the “island of freedom.”
In the summer of the same year, the artist staged a grand concert in honor of the release of the album, leaving no empty seats at the Olimpiysky in Kyiv. The musician thought through every detail; his program included impressive lighting effects and real performances, like in musicals. The organizers had to build the largest stage in the entire history of stadium concerts in Ukraine. But the highlight of the concert was Monatik’s appearance on the roof of a train carriage.
The beginning of a creative journey
Dmitry Monatik decided to try his hand at the show of the second season “Star Factory”. However, the young man failed to pass the casting, but, fortunately, he was noticed by a famous Ukrainian singer, who invited him to her troupe.
For a long time, the dancer collaborated with Natalia Mogilevskaya. And a little later I got a job at a dance school - “Turbo”. There he worked not only as a teacher, but also as an administrator.
The young man really liked the new place. Moreover, he realized that he was where he needed to be. At the same time, Dmitry founded his own musical group, which was called “Monatique”.
The debut performance of the beginning group took place in the hometown of the leader of the musical team, in Lutsk. At the beginning of 2010, Dmitry Monatik demonstrated his acting talents by starring in two episodes of the series “Mukhtar”. And a little later he became a participant in the program “Everybody Dance!” The show's jury selected 100 dancers, of which only the best thirty remained, including Monatic himself. However, he failed to enter the top twenty. A little later, after passing the casting, he became a participant in the musical project “X-Factor”.
On the show, the future singer managed to prove that he is not only a talented dancer, but also a musician. In 2011, Dmitry Monatik released his first music video - “Tay Flying Away”. Despite the fact that the song was not popular, people started talking about him as a promising author after the release of Svetlana Loboda’s song “40 degrees,” which the artist wrote.
Soon he wrote several musical compositions for such stars as Alina Gros, Dima Bilan and Seryoga. In 2020, with renewed vigor, the man began to conquer the Ukrainian and Russian stage, and a year later his second solo record, “Sounds,” was released. In 2020, he recorded the song “Wet” together with the group “Quest Pistols Show”. The clip turned out to be bright and interesting. Thanks to this, it became the most viewed video on YouTube video hosting.
Despite the fact that after this another song by the artist was released, they started talking about him as a talented singer only after the release of the track “Circulating”. After that, he was invited to take part in the Ukrainian version of “The Voice.” Children".
At the moment, Dmitry Monatik continues to release bright music videos and tour different countries and cities.
Monatic now
Dima Monatik is still actively working as an artist, regularly goes on tour, participates in new projects, writes songs and films videos. At the end of February 2020, the artist presented a new video for the song “Strong”. The video appeared on the singer’s official YouTube channel on the 26th.
The work was directed by Ukrainian Tanya Muinho, who had previously worked with him and other popular artists. The official release of the video says that when you love deeply, sometimes you think that you are in a beautiful dream. At the same time, for a lover, time stops and loses its significance, since high feelings, especially at first, crowd out everything else.
On January 19, 2020, the 10th season of “The Voice of the Country” was released on television screens, where Monatik, in the previous composition of mentors (with the exception of Potap, who was joined by Anastasia Kamenskikh), was again invited to the show.
At the end of February - beginning of March 2020, Monatic visited numerous countries with concerts. The musician performed in Riga, Vilnius, Warsaw, Odessa, Montreal, Toronto and other cities, but Moscow is still not among them, although the singer’s Russian fans are looking forward to his performances in Russia.

- Dmitry took part in the filming of the television series “Mukhtar”, where he appeared in several episodes.
Monatic: awards and nominations
Dima has so far received more nominations than awards, but, as they say, “it’s not over yet” - he has everything ahead of him. Last year brought Dima an award as the best singer, and he was nominated in three more categories: best solo artist, best duet (with the Quest Pistols Show) and best dance video. This year, Dima managed to win in the categories “Best Album” and “Best Video Clip”.
TV projects
2010 was a rich year for Dima in various competitions. First he got on the project “Everybody Dance!” (in the third season). Despite the fact that the young artist did not become a finalist, experts named him among the thirty best dancers in the country. This was recognition, it was a success that inspired Dima to work even more diligently and responsibly.
Having shown himself as a dancer, he decided that same year to test his vocal capabilities and was accepted into the most popular show “The X Factor”. This time he also did not make it to the finals, but showed his best side and was remembered by both the audience and his mentors. And so much so that the famous singer Elka (she was one of the judges on the project) wanted to work with the talented young man. As a result, it was Dima who became the choreographer of the artist’s next video (“On a Big Balloon”), which was a serious step forward. Monatik's creativity began to gain momentum.
